I thought this place was super fun, but then I was really excited to go in the first place. I will admit that it did seem to be out in the middle of nowhere, it is just a big bridge over a big crack in the Earth, but I thought it was a pretty cool big crack ;-) There is really nothing fancy about this, place as it is just a stop on the side of the road. However, I do think it was a great sight to see and I enjoyed walking across the crazy windy bridge to look down at the Rio Grande which seemed so mall from so high up. If you are wanting to head here, and I do highly recommend it, it's not a place that is going to take up a lot of time out of your day. Read moreWe bought a National Monuments Bucketlist book. This was the only reason we had heard about this place. We stayed in Taos for two days, and it's only 30 minutes away. It was very remote, and you have to drive quite a bit to get into the park. However, the views were stunning. This could almost be a national park. The canyon views of the Rio Grande and Red Rivers were beautiful. I'm pregnant and with the altitude, hiking didn't seem super feasible because almost all of the trails were marked difficult. I'd love to go back and hike some, because they looked spectacular! Definitely worth seeing. The visitor's center was close when we were there, so I have no idea...
Read moreWe were driving from Colorado towards Taos, New Mexico on highway 64.. We drove on the plateau at about 7000 feet above sea level looking towards Taos in the distance. We could see the volcanic fields and cones. Unexpectedly we saw a lot of cars and people. We slowed down and suddenly there was a deep (800 feet) gorge below us with the river running through it. We stopped and parked and joined the other tourists looking down in amazement. We could see people river rafting below us. were at the gorge looking down.
