🇺🇸4th of July Hike🇺🇸 Rainbow Lakes Trailhead Nederland, CO Indian Peaks Wilderness AllTrails rates this as an Easy hike, and while the trail is very well maintained, there are portions that are very rocky. Young kiddos and pups may have difficulty in areas, but this was an AWESOME hike! #fyp #hiking #hikecolorado #coloradomom #tiktokaffiliatehopeful #creatorpilotprogram

Rainbow lakes trailhead has a really cool vibe. A smaller laid back campground which I believe is first come first serve with great sites, each have bear boxes and nice tent areas that are well designed and nicely placed. There are also bathrooms at the trail parking lot, which is decently sized and has directions for the various hikes. The real star or the show here though are the spectacular lakes and wonderful views along this memorable yet moderately difficult trail. The lakes are smaller but still so cool and we even saw some wildlife. The trail has some semi technical sections but is for the most part fairly wide as I meanders slowly upward. Just a really nice out and back that on our day was hardly crowded. Mostly shaded with some small water crossings but nothing dangerous. I would recommend an SUV or pick up because the access road is a little gnarly as far as clearance and large rocks in some areas, however I did see people in small cars trying. overall a really nice way to spend three or four hours, and I’m sure your canine friends will love to splash around and swim.

The trail was very empty - there were only a few hikers on 6/22/23. There were a few spots of snow left on the trail that hikers will have to navigate, but these are not difficult. The water after the second bridge was high and the rocks were hard to cross without getting wet, but I found that skipping the second wooden bridge and taking the log bridge to the left instead is a much better way to cross until water...

This is an easy hike . I would recommend bringing a fishing pole and just relax beneath Caribou Peak. Along the hike, you will see streams littered with Gold dust and wild flowers. Just beautiful, as you can see by my photos, " Life is Good". If you live in the Westminster area, come home by Highway 72 and stop at the Wondervue restaurant. They have great food and...
