Hidden gem in New Mexico. Wonderful evocative ruins, beautiful scenery. You are able to walk all through the ruins and explore. Three different sites. The Native American ruins date back many hundreds of years, and then the mission churches are inserted into the middle of them. Makes for an interesting juxtaposition of cultures. You gotta live the mission ruins. I've been going for years, and they just keep getting better. Gran Quivera is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. I'd highly recommend a visit. Great for a picnic, or just a day of adventure. Check out the main museum in Mountainair as well...
