San Juan National Forest is a large and beautiful forest with something for everyone. This is one of my favorite areas in the country. We love it so much that we decided to spend our honeymoon exploring through this vast wilderness. We car camped around South Fork, visited Big Meadow Reservoir, drove up the old mining area Bachelor loop at Creede, caught trout in the Rio Grand Reservoir, hiked Box canyon, caught a magnificent sunset at Stoney Pass, hiked to South Clear Creek Falls, fished Little Molas Lake, visited the old mining town Animas Forks, and camped at the San Jean River. We saw mule deer, elk, mountain goat, marmots, pika, wild turkey, a golden eagle, numerous ground squirrels. The wild flowers were full bloom and amazing with so many insect visitors. If you love the outdoors, this area has so much to offer beyond what we were able to do.

Beautiful and scenic. Absolutely peaceful. I was surprised to find that we had cell service with AT&T and T-Mobile at our campsite. Not super duper service, but I could communicate with the outside world. The only gripe I have is some of the trails being crazily uneven and littered with rocks. A lot of these paths have pretty sizeable dropoffs to one side and sometimes you really have to skirt that drop edge to avoid large rocks, massive dips, or branches. It'd be nice if park services would clear these paths like once or twice a year. I mean, I don't need the paths city Boulevard smooth, but some of those spots were real seat biters. We stayed along and traveled trail road 45 and trail road... 727 I think? 7something7. I hope this helps.

I'll admit - all I really did is drive U.S 550 from Durango to Ouray, so that's really all I'm basing this review on. That being said, oh my god what an incredible place. This national forest is easily the most underrated part of the US I've ever been to. I went in early March, and the way the sun shines off the snow is gorgeous and makes you feel like you're in Switzerland. The vastness and accessibility of the forest is also awesome, there's plenty of pull offs on the road and you can kinda just take a few steps and feel like you're in a really remote area. The views will take your breath away. Pictures don't do this place justice at all, I highly recommend a trip to the San Juans.

This place is absolutely beautiful the camping area is very nice no showers. they have fire rings and picnic tables at every campsite. When we were there there was no Camp host. The only water available is at the camp host site just as you enter the park. The toilets are Vault toilets not flush toilets. But there's electricity at every site. Because of our pass we only had to pay $7 a night. They are bicycling and hiking trails that go all through the mountains. Also large Rock rodes that lead you all over the place because they're used as hunting trails. If you stay take the time to go to the elk Farm or Ranch you won't believe the size of those elk. When we stayed a year-and-a-half ago the ranger for the site was hard to deal with but he was close to retirement and hopefully maybe gone by now so there may be a camp host. It is on the honor System because no one man's the post camp or the entrance post. But they do come around almost daily checking sites and checking your tickets. There's a 14-day stay limit and we stayed all 14 days. Gallup is not that far away neither is Zuni and it is wonderful. Gallup has native dances every single night. You can learn a lot here as well as shop some of the most beautiful stores and some of the oldest stores in the West. Local silversmiths abound so you can always get really nice deals on some beautiful jewelry. These mountains have both silver and turquoise throughout this is where the natives actually got a lot of the silver turquoise and other Stones they use in the jewelry that they're selling. Be advised though there are some that will try to take advantage of you selling you Junk Jewelry. But please go and have a...

Resident drives a silver pickup that has a law enforcement decal on door. License plate is CSP (Colorado State Patrol) sometimes parks in entrance across from my house pointing in my direction for long periods at a time. One day Logan & I were outside working/ washing tractor. Logan start walking across pasture towards him to ask him a question. As soon as he saw Logan coming, he pulled out. We waved him over & he pulled into bottom of our driveway. He told Logan he was just finishing up his paperwork for the end of his shift. He was within site of his residence approximately 1/4 or less miles away in fact passed Co road 26 the road he lives on to get to subdivision. His residence is the one in the picture labeled Antonio Forest Service. Also the pictures of the holes dug approximately 5 ft deep by 4 ft wide by 5 ft long are on his property. He has a very bright porch light that is on on the nights that the drones are out after dark, however that is every night lately. When Mocha went missing, Logan went to their door. She identified MOCHA FROM A PICTURE Logan had, said she was on their deck. Said their dog who doesn't like any dogs went to door with tail wagging to greet Mocha said Mocha was curled up on deck but also said she was standing with tail tucked between legs. Said she looked really sad. Didn't call animal control or notify Sheriff Department even though her husband is in law enforcement. Animal control works under Cortez Police Department. LariAnn Pope is Animal Control OFFICER. She lives on Lebanon Road close to Karen DeLay. Has a white spot marked on her property labeled as Desert Rose. Desert Rose is a nursery/flower shop located...

We (my family and I) have just enjoyed one of the most wonderful weeks of camping out in the most beautiful camp grounds we've ever been to, at Chris Park Group Campgrounds. It was large enough for our very large family reunion (over 150 members), with am abundant amount of beautiful trees, especially Pines and shade trees. There was plenty of shade all over the whole camping area. The facilities were appropriate. The campgrounds keeper was very friendly and helpful. The scenery all around was very beautiful. A wonderfully large pavilion with plenty of benched picnic tables and campfire area with several large barbeques and a "Bear Box" to protect food and things from attracting bears. There were horse stables nearby to rent and a great equestrian trail to follow through beautiful scenery of mountain forests. It was easy to find just a few miles north of Durango, Colorado, where we had access to stores, gas stations, motels and plenty of other facilities. It has become one of our favorite places to go to. Oh! And you don't want to miss the Pinkerton Hot Springs that the locals refer to as "The Pimple"! There are also some caves to hike to, to do some fun "spelunking", for you...
