Park is stunning, serene, and lovely!! Staff made me feel unwelcome, scared, and confronted. This staff member needs to read the American with Disabilities Act. I was hiking with my female pet, and my male service dog (he doesnโt wear his vest when we hike because it can get too hot, and per the ADA he doesnโt need to wear an identifier). My pet dog had a leash attached to her harness that I had dropped and it was dragging behind her. When I finished adjusting my fanny pack I recalled her and grabbed her lead. My Service Dog does not wear a leash (I always carry one for emergencies), because it prohibits him from engaging in the tasks heโs trained to do, the tasks he needs to do in order to save my life. We walked past a staff member/trail walker, an older white man with white hair who said dogs need to be on lead, I said โSorryโ and showed I was holding my petโs lead and referred to my SA saying โHeโs a service animal, he canโt be on leashโ the man said โdoesnโt matter, there are toddlers hereโ (there are toddlers everywhere what does that have to do with anything??). I say he would never leave my side and the staff member says โyou donโt know thatโ and respectfully, yes I do because this dog has been my SA for well over 6 years. Attention STAFF: You cannot discriminate against a service animal unless it is exhibiting unruly behavior. An SA off leash just needs to be controlled by verbal or visual commands. Thank Goodness I didnโt put him on lead just 10 minutes later I needed him to work on task, and he quite LITERALLY saved my life for the 12th time. I love love this trail, but this staff member needs to familiarize himself with the ADA. It sucks having a disability already and legally I donโt need to explain or prove anything. This happened around...
ย ย ย Read moreIt's a stunning place with mixed use trails and good sun exposure throughout the winter months. These trails are probably the easiest in the area and some of the most scenic.
In response to comments complaining about the fencing, I think it's important to consider the effects of the rapidly expanding neighborhoods. Adding 3,000+ homes increases the pressure on the whole area resulting in restrictions. The days of walking through the meadows and climbing on the rocks are long gone. The comment that this park needs a playground is infuriating. We should probably set up a concession stand and a petting zoo while we're at it.
Fecal waste is an increasingly common issue. Leaving your dog poop bagged on the trail remains an unacceptable practice regardless of your intentions to pick it up later. IMO there is also no longer room to accommodate horses on the trails or parking lots. Their poop is problematic too, even if it's made of grass, because the trails are few and generally narrow.
I treasure this area and hope it doesn't get loved to death. Given its beauty and accessibility, I suspect the park will only become busier and more restricted as time goes on. Please pick up your trash. Don't widen the trails to avoid getting your feet dirty. Keep the dogs leashed, and be kind to others. You just might...

Recommended : the coyote song trail has some nice inclines and declines as you traverse around the rock formations in the midst of the foothills. We took the Swallow trail back which was flat and wide - a delightful finish to the hike. A relatively easy hike on which you can enjoy the great outdoors. There were quite a few birds of varying kinds around which were enjoyable to observe.
The not so great : there were quite a few trail runners and Bicyclists on the trails and you had to keep an...
