Was 6 star before they paved the road to campground. My favourite AZ swimmin' hole for over 30 years. Flat redrock terraces descend to clear deep pool w/ 30+ft. rock diving on far side. Can get a bit busy on weekends but its so worth it. Weather can deteriorate quickly (especially mid/late afternoon, though these storms usually pass quickly), and can carry dangerous debris down from the rim during flash floods (don't worry, you'll be safe out of the water). Ratltlesnakes like to sun on rocks just before the last bend on the trail earlier in the morning (especially in late winter). Give em a wide berth. Also they don't sound like classic rattlers, more like insects due to natural selection from decades of local ratlesnake drives. Small motley groups of unaccompanied teenagers from boarding school down canyon often trek here on weekends for cliff diving. Though sometimes rowdy and probably smoking cigarettes, remember, THEY live here. Driving livestock traffic may impede first third of trail (up to White Mesa trail offshoot [Casner Butte]) in March and November. Also, offshoot trails (like the Weir) may not be cleared in the lower rushes till late spring. Stay on main trail to the left toward the end and (don't cross the creek at Bell's Crossing unless you want to end up in Long Canyon) wait til the water to comes to the trail (you'll know it when you see it). Some cubby hole overhangs on and above trail in last third of trek contain a few ancestral Yavapai petroglyphs (please don't touch or mess with them). Please don't litter or disturb flora and fauna (except stocked fish). Cell service was spotty to non-existent out here last time I was here a few years back. There's no shade on the first 2/3 of trail and limited shade depending on time of day the rest of the way, so hats, shades and sunscreen are always good, especially treking back in the late afternoon. Last 1/2 of trail winds around Casner Butte and rises to great views of Casner Canyon and the creek. Midday and afternoons get warm to hot most of the year, though creek water is always cool to cold. Bring plently of drinking water and be kind to other pilgrims on the...

Most beautiful epic Hike I've ever experienced. Want your work out, walk this trail! Definitely for troopers only. Take plenty of WATER!!! No joking bring water! Oh bring water shoes, trust me the walk back with soak socks and shoes suck! 7 miles walk but in the hot beating sun it feels waaay longer. The last 2 miles was about 1,200 ft higher than the trail so beware the last miles before you get to the crack is a mission and a half so be mind full of that! No wagons! The trail starts off wide then get very narrow more towards the mountainside.

We took our dogs, kids, and 60 year young grandma!!! *Dogs- luckily we have small dogs we can carry them, because the ground and rocks were getting really hot. Bring extra water for the dogs and something for them to drink out of. *kids-Our kids are used to The Great Outdoors we go hiking a lot. However it's very high intense trail for kids in my opinion and on the trail on the mountain side, no easy spots to go potty, you have to climb and walk far to get privacy to pop and squat. Bring something so your children go take a nap! Their going to need it.! *Grandma-okay we knew that it was going to be long and difficult and hot July is when experience this. (So leave early beat the Sun.) We, just did not anticipate the climbing and Rocky pathways. So bring your walking stick! It helps! And a chair so grandma can rest and relax. That way she or he doesn't have to sit on the floor.

Pro tip: bring trash bags for your trash! Notice some lazy jerks leaving trash and empty water bottles so luckily we had extra bags. Not cool to pick up after other humans! Germs! But we did it anyways got to keep our mother nature clean...

The Crack is a 7-mile, round trip out and back hike. This hike will take you longer than you think. Yes, while this is a technically easy hike, don’t be fooled, it’s no walk in the park. You’re fully exposed to the elements. Be prepared with SPF, food and bring twice as much water as you think you’ll need. Would NOT recommend bringing your dogs to The Crack. We did based on previous reviews, but absolutely won’t take them the full way again, it’s just too hot and too far with no shade for them. We saw several dogs struggling and it was below 90 the day we went, so not even super hot. Go early in the morning to get parking. Pretty views, hike is pretty flat for the first two miles and then it goes gently uphill, nothing super spicy, but it gets rough because, again, you’re very exposed the whole time. The Crack is cool but can be super crowded. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend hiking all the way there if you’re just looking for a great spot to cool off in the water. There are some really great swimming holes off the trail right within the first mile or so. These photos are from some of the quieter swimming holes. Would def come back, but please leave the...

with March already upon us, you know what that means! the heat will be cranking up soon in parts of AZ and we will be searching for ways to keep cool 😎 featured are 4 beautiful swimming holes to check out this season! 🙌🏻 📍sycamore canyon this swimming hole can be reached via the parsons trail near Clarkdale, AZ. 📍Haigler Creek located near Young, AZ in the Tonto National Forest this is a great spot for dispersed camping. keep in mind high clearance, 4x4 is needed to reach the creek. 📍Oak Creek a couple of my favorite waterholes along oak creek are Mormons crossing and grasshopper point. 📍”the crack” this is part of wet beaver creek and can be accessed via the bell trail. this is a 7 mile out and back hike that can be *extremely* hot during the summer months. always be prepared and bring plenty of water! 🚮 lastly, please remember to pack out your trash when visiting these areas and leave no trace! who’s excited for swimming hole season? 🤩

✨SUMMER BUCKET LIST INSPO ✨ 📍The Crack, 45 minutes from Sedona Arizona is FULL of swimming holes and you need to check them out this summer! You can reach this swimming hole by taking the Bell Trail, which is a 7 mile out and back route in Rimrock, south of Sedona. Good to know 💡 The hike itself is pretty flat but has little to no shade so in the summer it will be hot. Along the hike, there’s two spots where you’ll reach a fork in the road. The first one will be at the Weir Trail and the second is to pass the creek, take a left at both! You’ll reach the swimming hole soon after the second fork. Parking 🚙 There are two parking lots: the Bruce Brockett Trailhead or the Bell Trailhead. From here, follow the signs to the Bell Trail! No parking permit is needed. This hike is dog friendly! 🐶 As with any adventure, leave no trace!! Leave no trace principles are guidelines to minimizing our impact on the environment. Be sure to plan ahead, dispose of any waste properly, leave all plants alone, respect the wildlife, and be considerate of others 💚 Tag your besties to start your summer bucket list!! #swimminghole #cliffjumping #summerinarizona #sedona #daytrip #rimrockaz #wetbeavercreek
