Lots to explore here. There's Saguaro Lake and Butcher Jones Recreation Area by Mesa. The trails offer a nice view of the lake, and you can walk down the piers or go for a swim (albeit the water was kind of muddy). There's also other parking lots alongside the Salt River, so you can go down and walk. Just keep in mind to buy your Tonto Pass ahead of time at a gas station. Some of the parks will have vending machines for that pass as well. The Tonto Park trails are a bit more rough around the edges vs other parks, and sometimes no amenities or just very rudimentary restrooms. Very relaxing though to go out. The aforementioned water spots do get busy in the...

This is a long drive out of Phoenix. I think an hour and half. We should have gone earlier in the day because we didn't have time to hike before sundown. We did watch the sunset over the water at Sagoura (sp?) Lake. That was nice. There seems to be a lot of trails for ATVs and we didn't find the hiking trails in our short visit. I think it would have been fun and beautiful to camp and spend some time here, but it's huge. It's definitely a desert forest and not what we expected to see when we think of a forest with lush trees and such, but lots of cactus. We love the mountains though and couldn't get enough of...

I always enjoy in the Tonto national Forest in Arizona. The tonto national Forest includes desert and pine Forest and mountains with forests. It has many different plant zones. The forest has many different camp places. Lots of lakes rivers, creeks, streams. It is quiet sometimes and sometimes it's busy depends on where you go. It's much cooler up in the northern part of the Tonto national Forest. It is cool and peaceful on top of the rim and the Tonto national Forest. Wood recommend this force to anybody who likes nature, camping and taking pictures...

if you live in Arizona or have plans to visit soon, this is one hike you don’t want to miss! located in the Tonto National Forest, this trail is suitable for families, is dog friendly and boasts striking desert landscapes along with incredible views of Saguaro Lake. on a clear day, you can see Four Peaks in the distance. 📌SAVE for a future visit 📍Butcher Jones Trail (on AllTrails) 🥾5.8 miles out and back 📈636 ft elevation 🅿️an $8 Tonto National Pass is required for parking and needs to be picked up ahead of time. you can purchase a pass at the nearby Chevron Station at the intersection of 87 and McDowell Street or any area Circle K. an America the Beautiful Pass can also be used. 🐶dogs are welcome but must be leashed 🚻vault toilets at the trailhead even though we’ve been experiencing cooler temps in the desert, it’s still extremely important to pack plenty of water and use sun protection. since this is a more popular trail, be courteous of other hikers and don’t forget to pack out your trash! do you have plans to get outside this weekend? #saguarolake #deserthiking #arizonasbest #aztrails #visitarizona #explorearizona #arizonaisgorgeous

It’s blossom season Arizona! Two of our favorite places to see the bloom is Tonto National Forest in the Superstitions and Saguaro National Park🌵🌸 📍 Photo taken on O’odham, Tohono O’odham, and Hohokamn lands. • • • • • • #saguarosunday #saguaro #saguarocactus #saguarobloom #cactusbloom #visitarizona #arizona #hikingarizona #cactus #arizonahiking

We went for an off-road drive and ended up 15 minutes away from Tonto National Monument and it was still open for the day so we visited for the first time! 🚙🏞⛰ We traveled from the 87 across the Tonto National Forest to the 188. The forest road is not very challenging but do not recommend taking a sedan. The road is not maintained and some portions are on an incline and some are more rough and rocky that could bottom out a vehicle with low clearance. 🥾1 mile out and back to the Lower Cliff Dwellings 🎟There is a fee to enter the park. We used our America The Beauitful Pass. You must start your hike by 4:00 pm. From June-August you must start your hike by noon 🏜Please respect the Cliff dwellings. You can walk through them, but don’t touch them 🐕The Lower Cliff Dwelling Trail is dog friendly, but you cannot take dogs in the dwelling 🚙1.5 hours from Phoenix (if you take the 87) 📍 Video taken on native lands of the Ndee/Nnēē: (Western Apache) and Pueblo people, and people of the Salado & Hohokam Culture • • • • • • #tontonationalmonument #cliffdwellings #arizona #visitarizona #jeepwrangler #tontonationalforest #fourpeaks #nationalmonument #nationalparkservice #explorearizona
