We held a birthday party out here and it was lovely! There are covered and uncovered picnic benches all along the way, as well as pullouts to park and walk around. On Hal Gras Road there is a picnic area called Ironwood Picnic Area. The road itself is about a mile long and there are covered and uncovered picnic tables. At the end of the road are picnic areas under large trees. The restrooms are clean, as are the water fountains. There are no hand washing stations. This is a wonderful area for a light hike. Be aware that there are snakes, coyotes, javelinas, mountain lions and bobcats out there. Wearing proper clothing and foot attire is a great idea. The Saguaro Scenery is some of the best worldwide, and every time I pass through the park I am reminded of this. I started my bike ride at Ironwood Hills up to Gates Pass where Tucson Mountain Park starts. It's a narrow road so you have to be very careful on maintaining constant awareness if you choose to ride up on your bike, or if you are driving please be aware of bikers, as this is a very popular ride with Tucsonans. Read moreWow. If I had only known sooner. Great hideaway with no travel. I see my therapist on Kinney. Took a drive and found Old Tucson. 5 minutes away. Stayed at the B & B. right behind a healthy food restaurant Coyote Pause. It's quiet and peaceful. 25 minutes and I was home on the east side after checkout. Great food, gas station, donut shop. And art galleries. My fav was Affairs of the Art. Picked up a print and some patchouli body butter from local owned Beyond-Organic.
