There are four great hikes along the Wasatch Front from Draper to Little Cottonwood Canyon. Jacob's Ladder, Cherry Canyon Logging Trail, Sawmill Trail, and Bell Canyon. All of these rate as difficult. Bell Canyon all the way to the reservoir is a big hike with lots of elevation and great trail diversity. There are a lot of boulders in the trail, and there's parts of the trail near the reservoir where the trail is all boulders with just cairns to follow. The trail opens up to great views of Salt Lake City. The lower portion to the lower falls is usually pretty crowded, and it gets a lot less crowded if you keep going to the upper falls and the reservoir. There's supposed to be a little grove of redwood trees somewhere on the upper portion, but I'm still searching for it. The trail is easy to access, especially with the new parking lot built at the trailhead. Plenty of water sources along the way to purify for drinking water. I saw some fish in the reservoir in October.

Leave the pups at home, bring a lunch with some plenty of snacks for all, maybe a lite jacket, sun protection, plenty of water for this one folks as it is a journey up to the top. Got a bit turned around and actually had to come down to get to the reservoir as the trail can get a bit confusing but you will be inside the bowl so you will miss it. I have not tried it but I am sure you could probably hike over the ridge line into where Lone peak sits. Otherwise if you want a good long arduous but well worth it scenic hike this one is a blast. I recommend taking it slow if you need too; no need to rush something that will most likely be an 8 hour from start to finish. And if you do not finish it you can always come back, it is most likely not going anywhere anytime soon. Reminder, have fun and keep the wilderness free of human debris.

This a great hike. The trail changed from the upper falls to the upper reservoir because of safety issues when crossing the stream in the Springtime. The dam of the upper reservoir has been breached and the lake is small compared to what it was in 90’s. Still fish in it though. When you get to the upper reservoir you can look West and see Lone Peak.

This may be one of my favorite longer hikes in the Wasatch area. It's steep and you will feel it but the scenery is amazing. You will see multiple waterfalls along the way alternating between different types of environments. Rocky climbs, fern filled areas, and forests all surrounded by towering rock walls. Tip- Make sure you have water. I drank almost 4 liters. There are lots of places to filter so you don't need to carry too much if you...
