This trail is HARD! I know my limits now that I understand the difference the difference between “moderate” and “hard” in the AllTrails app, and I haven’t reached a level where I can do hard. It’s all about elevation gain, width of trail, and rockiness. We made it to the second bridge, and stopped at the rocks. Highly recommend hiking sticks. The trail is rocky full of roots and almost all uphill. There’s a lovely Aspen Grove about a mile up with nice views, but you were always inside the forest, not looking out at things. We were passed by older fitter people, who seemed to be having a great time. But these 50-year-olds just found it really exhausting (and we are used to elevation). If you’re trying to decide between this trail, and Mad Greek, I feel mad Creek 100% of the way!

Scenic waterfalls with a decent amount of parking. A $5 day use fee is required. The walk to the first falls is short and all down hill. There is an overlook spot which is probably a level trail. The hike to the upper falls is fairly strenuous. Those falls are lovely, and my wife and I sat on some rocks enjoying them for a bit. The only downside was some doofus slamming large rocks down at the base of the falls. That detracted from our experience, unfortunately. It was also difficult to find places off the trail to go potty since the vegetation was fully grown in along the trail. Nonetheless it was a nice hike with some beautiful views that is easy to get to in Steamboat Springs.

Very scenic hike. First part downhill from the parking lot is too easy, across the bridge, then moderately difficult up to a wooded area that is nice and easy, then up to a second bridge. If you continue, it's not too difficult up to where path splits 3 ways, the left and middle paths remind me of the bumper sticker "26.7 I Got Lost," the path to the right is ok until you get to a cliff face with a drop off that's not for the faint-of-heart, then you're at the falls and enjoying a spectacular view. Back down is easier until you get past the bottom bridge and have to climb back up to the parking lot. Ouch!
