Good hike for my family. The uphill first leg on the Continental Divide Trail was pretty challenging. We crossed the rushing water on the bridge and then started downhill section on the next trail. Lots of small water crossings on this section. The final section before completing the loop was perhaps the hardest as there was a lot of uphill climbing and the children in the group were getting tired.

Please don't visit this beautiful place - it's terrible! LOL Just kidding - it's so special. The rocks in the river are a redish/rust tone from the minerals - so beautiful. Just off the highway, the water is amazing in early spring, but always a great stop. I take my chair and hang out all day. Oh and some people home, but I just like the river most times.

Nice visual scenery, not so nice audio scenery. The number of bikers that ride CO 82 in the summer, bouncing off the canyon-like formations from Independence Pass and on east, mean that unless you get above the gulch and onto the Continental Divide trail, it's kind of a racket. Oh, and Twin Lakes? IMO a tourist trap even by Colorado standards.

We took this trail up to Hope Pass. Started our hike around 9 AM. First 1.5 miles went like breeze. We stopped for photos at the waterfall almost close to 2 mile. After the waterfall, it was serious climb all the way up to Hope Pass. The weather was bit cloudy when we started the hike and it started raining when we reach the pass. It was cold and windy. Temperature dropped from 50s to 30s in no time. Always carry extra layers and water. I had a wind breaker and a water proof jacket. We took 2.5 hours to reach the pass. We stayed there for just few photos and started back since the rain was getting heavier. Descend was bit hard for the first mile, but later my legs got used to the downhill. We jogged/walked back to trail head in about 2 hours. Over all it was a beautiful hike with...
