I'm so excited about Fox Chapel Borough Parks commitment to stream bank protections and native plantings. Fifty Buttonbush, twenty-five Ninebark and twenty-five Winterberries planted over the weekend will help with erosion control, while contributing benefits to pollinators, birds and wildlife. The tree protection tubes act as little greenhouses during root establishment in the first few years of growth. The plants are densely planted to establish a durable network of roots to help prevent future wash outs of the trail. Great park for off leash fun. Very popular Park, great fall color this time of year, and much loved by area dogs. Many hands working together makes for beautiful community spaces! Thank you to our park volunteers, Parks Commissioner Carrie Casey, Councilmember Mandy Steele and a special thank you to Sanford Leuba for the plant donations as part of the Pennsylvania 10 Million Trees initiative and in celebration of Reparian Buffer...
Read moreGreat park for people looking to get out with their dogs. Fox Chapel takes care of the grounds, but it is losing a star because there are no trash cans anywhere except at the entrance (that I saw at least). For being a dog friendly, off leash park, there should be more receptacles to throw away dog waste if they want people to clean up after their dogs. We saw stray poop bags that I imagine were discarded after their owners were tired of carrying them around. Also, the lot is permit parking only and appears that you cannot get a permit online, only in person. We did not get ticketed (and will be stopping to get a permit) but the process should be a little less ambiguous, the information online is a little unclear. Overall it is a great option that is very close to the city. Lots of trails to choose from, a creek that runs through most of the park and enough space for you to be able to enjoy having your dog off leash and not being on top of a bunch...
Read moreI hesitate to say great things because I don't want to attract riff raff. If you have a friendly dog and want to get them some off-leash time, this place is great. There's a creek they can swim in, and trails everywhere. There's even trash cans. It feels more like trails in a forest than a dog park, but that's what is great about it. If I had to nitpick, it would be that everyone seems to be on a mission and doesn't actually just "hang out". Instead.of just sitting down and letting their dogs play, they're always in a hurry to get somewhere. Despite that, amazing place. Very...
