I had the pleasure of attending a wine tasting at Crocker Farms Winery with a group of work friends. Dan was our very knowledgeable and hospitable guide for our tasting. We learned of how the wining business got established in the state of KY and also some general history on American, European, and South American wines. We tasted a variety of wines that were made and bottled at his property; there was something delicious for every pallet (beginner pallet, here).
We unfortunately were not able to tour his charming farm and vineyard due to the weather, but did get a visit from his sweet cattle dogs, possibly border collies or a type of shepherd. Read moreStopped off at this winery on a whim visiting Amish stores. We were greeted by three friendly cattle dogs and a ranch hand/tasting room attendant, Levi. He gave us a choice of what we would like to taste and we started with a concord, white, red, and a white. They were delightful and Levi was delightful. Then the owner Dan showed up and suggested an American Reliance and Norton Table Wine. All were delicious and we purchased a total of 8 bottles of the various wines. A very unique setting, Dan the caretaker/ owner was very generous with complimentary wine samples and down home story telling . The winery was nicely decorated with local crab orchard sandstone and fresh cedar. He even helped to show me how to properly play a banjo with the hammer claw technique.
