It had been years since we last stopped here and the market is more than double the size of vendors now. SO many vendors now... fruits, vegetables, soaps, baked goods including freshly mad donuts (outstanding-the Big Apple donuts are the best, hands down), jams, jellies, pickles, probably salsa too, fish surprisingly enough, melons, fresh guacamole (there was a line), live music, etc... it was a full spectrum of vendors.
We arrived layer than we intended... close to 11am... and the traffic to get in to park involved an officer guiding traffic and pedestrians at the entry and many parking guides inside the very full lot. Everyone was kind and patient getting in and out.
Sounds like this season is the last one at this location, as they have plans to move to a nearby location that will be able to handle additional parking and hopefully provide covered pavilion space for all vendors AND have indoor restroom facilities... which would be awesome!
Next time thru the area we will visit the market again, and hopefully see The Factory...
Read moreWe have been going here ever Saturday for 3 months now, and it has everything we wanted from a farmers market. We started going because we wanted to source our food locally. There is a good variety of seasonal vegetables and herbs available every week as long as you show up before 10 or 10:30. We tested several stalls before we found some that work for us. We wanted to avoid things wrapped in plastic. We also intentionally choose people who are better about complying with mask mandates! Because of this place, we source 80% of our produce locally, buy locally-made goat milk bar soap, and get our eggs from ethical sources! Plus, the food truck scene is cool and the factory itself is probably my favorite place in Franklin. Make sure to visit Possum Bottom Farms for a delicious variety of mushrooms. We've tried like 5 different mushrooms varieties we've never had, and they were all great. We haven't yet bought crafts here but we intend to source gifts for some of our holiday...
Read moreThis market is more like an outdoor craft mall than a farmers market. I moved to Franklin from Washington DC, where I enjoyed the nationally famous Dupont Circle Farmers Market. I came to enjoy fine produce, artisanal baked goods and cheeses. In contrast, the Franklin farmers market is characterized by food trucks, crafts, and prepackaged, mass produced foods. There are a few good quality produce vendor,s but I would have to wade through so many other offerings that are, frankly, just not of interest to me, that I don't usually bother. I recommend the East Franklin Farmers Market if you are more of a foodie and not looking...
