3.75 stars Octagon Hall Museum is an interesting location to see a bit of Civil War history. The building itself is cool for its architecture and the Mason history that goes along with. The tour guide who gives the history of the house and the grounds and Bowling Green at the time was knowledgeable and gave a good story. A film guy coming to shoot some paranormal activity was onsite during my visit so that too was cool. The collection inside is a bit hodge podge for my taste but are donated period pieces from all kinds of confederate groups and friendlies. The slave imagery in the basement is laughable at the lack of trying with the mannequins. With that said, the grounds are walkable and the enslaved people cemetery is well kept.. but not as kept as the two confederate soldiers who died on the property. At any rate, it's history so take it for what it is. And see if any tortured souls show up in your photos.

Very cool location. I didn't make it to the basement but saw everything else. The history here is worth the drive. I'd never seen slave tags before. The one hiding spot on the first level gave me a start. I knew what was there but still spooked. Haha. And I didn't notice until I was right next to the bed, the man upstairs. Spooked myself there too. Lol. I thought I'd seen a cat's tail as I was walking up the steps upstairs. But I didn't see it again while I was up there. The two men there are really nice and knowledgeable. Bear was definitely right about the way people can feel upstairs. Happened to me. I'll definitely be there again soon.

$5 donation. I love that they stayed period specific with the furniture. We went this past weekend and it was a little too crowded, kids were running around and goofing off in the small areas(I know this is not the museum's fault but it could have been policed a little better.) It felt more like someone's property that they allowed visitors to come into. They had some things in glass displays, like a typical museum but, it was self-paced and overall underwhelming. I wish they had someone dedicated to walk through the rooms and explain some history, most of the time we didn't really understand what we were looking at and it's significance. My fiancé said he couldn't really get into the history with all of the cameras. He thought it took away from...
