
Being SW Michigan's largest all-sports lake, Gun Lake is known to attract a large amount of summertime visitors looking to place their boat in the water, fish, swim, and just have an all-around good time by the water. Gun Lake is known for it's Walleye, but fishers also have also been known to catch bass, bluegill, and trout species. I've been swimming here a couple of times, and the better spots to swim are mainly on the Yankee Springs side, specifically the Roosevelt Beach area. Gun Lake isn't very deep compared to other lakes, only 35 feet at it's deepest! Read moreI love it how they tell me to slow down. Speed limit is 25 mph but yet i was going 15 mph and i started slowing down even more to let this girl through to be nice. Just because you are DNR, does not mean you have to start things with people. I must of been to slow because my fiance is from Ohio and i was going slow on purpose to show her how beautiful it is. My neighbor is a DNR, pretty sure he would laugh about this. As soon as i left, she talked to her boss and was lying and started playing the race game. Read moreI grew up at Gun Lake. Well at least every summer from 5 years of age way into adulthood. Treasured memories linger from all those wonderful years. We swam, floated, skied, boat rides, sailing! Bike rides, hiking up to look out point. Family, friends and tons of fun.! Fires at night with star gazing and roasting marshmallows.
