Hidden Brook Ranch LLC — Attraction in Frelinghuysen Township

I had the most amazing time visiting Hidden Brook Ranch for my birthday! From the moment we arrived, the owner, Gary, made us feel so welcome and comfortable. There was supposed to be another group joining us, but they didn’t show which ended up being a blessing in disguise because it was just my fiancé, Gary, and I. The experience felt so intimate and personal.

We got to really connect with the alpacas and llamas and truly understand them in a way I never thought possible. The walk was short within a designated path — perfect for families, kids, or anyone who may not be able to handle long hikes. After the walk, we chose to add on the chore experience. I know it sounds funny to pay to do chores, but honestly, it was an absolute once in a lifetime experience! When else can you say you picked up llama and alpaca poop, fed the animals, changed their water/hay, and helped care for them up close? It made us feel even more connected to these beautiful animals.

All I wanted for my birthday was to spend time with animals, and this experience went above and beyond anything I could have hoped for. I’ll definitely be back! Thank you again, Gary, for such a special day! Highly...

Update to the Business Response: I’ve added screenshots of our communication to further address the inaccuracies in the business’s response and provide a clear account of our poor experience with them.

We booked on Airbnb Experiences, traveling from Maryland for a short weekend stay. Unfortunately, one person in the group had a medical emergency in the morning that delayed our arrival to PA, making it impossible to arrive for our scheduled time slot.

While we recognize this was ultimately our fault, we reached out several hours before our appointment time to provide the host with advanced notice of our cancellation and explore an alternative solution.

We were not offered any solutions or reschedule options by the business, and were instead told only of Airbnb’s policy of no refunds or cancellations. We followed up with hopes to book another time slot, our request wasn’t acknowledged until hours later when no recourse was possible, and again no solution was offered to us.

An absolutely fantastic afternoon at the Hidden Brook Alpaca and Llama Ranch. The staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable and the alpacas and llamas are equally nice. Here’s what you need to know:

Visits are by appointment only and generally made at least 24 hours in advance. We were able to make a same day appointment but don’t count on that.

Since appointments are by appointment only if you arrive early the gate may be locked. Give them a call and they’ll let you in to park.

We did the one hour walking tour and were extremely happy. You’ll spend plenty of time with all the animals and get to feed and pet all who want to interact. This is what we love about this ranch, nothing is forced on the animals. You don’t approach them, they approach you.

They’re working on a new experience where you can walk and alpaca and llama outside the enclosure and we were the first group to give it a try. Hopefully they keep doing this because it was a great experience.
