For the record, there really isn't a useable kayak/canoe launch in this park. The park map shows a kayak launch across the street from the main parking lot, but to use this you would have to carry.your kayak or canoe across very busy East River Rd about 200 yards to launch in Locke Lake. There is no vehicle access to the launch, and you can't park on E River Rd to unload your kayak or canoe. Also, there is no access to Rice Creek, only to the lake if you were to launch a kayak there. (there is a spillway which blocks access.)...

Read moreThis is one of my favorite parks in the area. It's a bit small but the cottonwood trees are huge down towards the river. They keep it clean with exception to a few people fishing that leave trash behind. Usually it gets picked up quick by visitors, like when I fished this stretch I brought out bags of trash, or by the park maintenance crew. There are great views of the river and picnic areas.
