I recently visited Sapphire Point Overlook in the Rocky Mountains, and it was an unforgettable experience. This stunning viewpoint offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains, valleys, and lakes, leaving me in awe of nature's beauty.
The overlook's elevation provides a unique perspective on the landscape, with the Rocky Mountains stretching out as far as the eye can see. The tranquil atmosphere and peaceful surroundings make it an ideal spot for relaxation and contemplation.

Read moreSapphire Point Overlook is a popular venue for elopements and micro-weddings, and I've photographed there many times, but it's not my favorite for a few reasons.
One, it is BUSY here. Don't book it for a weekend wedding unless you're prepared to fight for parking spots, and have dozens of tourists walk right past the back of your ceremony.
Two, there are so many better views in Summit County than the one from the ceremony overlook! You can barely see the mountains through the trees, so it's pretty underwhelming even compared to the views from the trail down there.
That being said, it's one of the few venues in the area that can be rented for just a few hours for dirt cheap ($110 at the time of this review), and it's one of the few places on public lands where you can have a ceremony for groups of up to 35 people.
Book it on a weekday, either early in the morning or right before sunset, and you can have a great experience here. But avoid it midday on weekends—it's more stress than it's worth.

Read moreI love photographing intimate weddings and elopements at Sapphire Point. Not only is it a beautiful location, but it is also one of a few public locations in the area that can be reserved to host groups of up to 30 - and for a very reasonable price at that.
Not only is Sapphire Point beautiful, but it is also a convenient jumping off point for some of my other favorite locations to photograph special wedding day moments like first looks and sunset photos.
With that said, I recommend planning your Sapphire Point ceremony on a weekday or at sunrise to avoid large crowds and parking difficulties. Additionally, as with any public lands location, privacy is not guaranteed, and with Sapphire Point, it is, in fact, rather unlikely.
Although I couldn't recommend Sapphire Point more strongly for its stunning views and modest price point, I have knocked off a star due to the amount of traffic and lack of privacy. There are just too many equally beautiful and far more private options to choose from...
