I was in town for two weeks. We kept coming back to this place because it was so amazing. We came almost everyday at different times and took different trails and we still never felt like we saw it all. You have to visit! In some ways, I loved it more than the National Monument. There is parking. It is free. We did not see any wildlife but I am sure they are here. The mornings are super busy but later in the day, it's pretty dead. You can roam all over this place but beware there are signs to help guide you and keep you off the crust. So, don't go too crazy and be irresponsible to the environment they are trying...
