Great way to spend an afternoon. Open from sunrise to sunset with no admission fees for just walking around, although special events may require admission. Plenty of nature trails, dog and horse friendly, places to kayak, birdwatch, fish, etc. Very popular among photographers, both portrait and nature. Clean if older indoor bathrooms. Grills and picnic tables, plenty of open space. You absolutely can't go wrong. I took the Bell Island Trail and the Wetlands Trail on my most recent visit, sauntered for about two hours. It probably gets pretty buggy in the warm weather so be sure to protect yourself. Also, while you don't need hiking boots, the trails can be a little treacherous with roots and mud so wear somewhat...

We had some time to kill before a college tour at SU so decided to check this out. Great walking trails and nice scenery. We weren't able to spend as much time as we wanted but I would highly recommend it especially with kids. Could also bring lunch, have a picnic and just enjoy the area. We saw archery targets there too but not sure if they hold competitions there or if that's set aside for practice or what. Would definitely return for longer hikes. Trails are easy too and mostly flat and not rocky. We walked in tennis shoes but if we were staying longer we would have put on more durable hiking boots or shoes just so we could avoid ruining our tennis shoes. Not because they were uncomfortable at all. ...

The park in autumn was really beautiful, with all the different colored leaves. A nice respite from the busy world. It was my first time there, and I had my husband take us there pretty much on a whim. I wasn’t disappointed. Leaves all over the ground were pretty, too. People were walking their dogs, jogging, playing Frisbee, etc.

Since I'm in a wheelchair and need to psych myself up for excursions such as this (and we were pretty short on time), we didn't get out of the car and do any of these things, but I do want to go back with withour dogs, and our adult kids, and take Christmas pictures. Hopefully, I'll get to see more of the park then and add that last star...

We were in town due to a family emergency. Our second day my husband searched for somewhere close by the hospital where he could take me. He found this park. It was so beautiful & historic, just what I needed to get some fresh air and put my thoughts in order. There was a perfect spot to sit by the water and just contemplate all that had happened prior. It was so serene & just breathtaking. There were trails you could walk that had multiple informational spots where you could read all about this beautiful park's history. My only wish is that I would've had more time to explore this beautiful historical place. If you get a chance it is definitely worth seeing.
