One of my most favorite beaches in West Michigan! Definitely in the top 10. It’s clean, the water tends to be clearer & bluer than in the Holland area. For me it’s always been a great spot for rock hunting. I’ve found lightning stones (mudstones), beach glass, petoskeys and varies different fossils with calcite inclusions. (Horncoral/Croniods). Has a pretty creek going out into Lake Michigan. Just keep in mind the parking lot is very small and this beach has gained popularity in past few years, so it’s hard to get a parking spot.
Cons:
no restrooms, besides porter pottie. minimal parking space
Pros:
lots of rocks has a creek not as busy as other beaches clearer & bluer water than other beaches clean
UPDATE June 2025!!
The park is currently closed because of construction on its...
Read moreThis little public park is a true gem. Measuring only 66 feet wide, it is a favorite among the rock hunting crowd. The parking is limited, so get there early. There is a "porta-potty" in case you need one. The rest of the site is basically the parking lot at the top of the hill and a staircase leading down to the beach. While the beach, itself, is covered with fine sand, the waterline is mostly covered in a variety of wonderful and collectible tumbled stones. You will find beach glass, fossils, minerals, conglomerates, and almost any other type of stone you can imagine. The diversity of rocks is astounding. Just look down at your feet and you may find a treasure in the sand at the water's edge. Enjoy this West Michigan treasure and please respect the neighboring...
Read moreMy cousin took me here on my first rock hounding expedition ever. I found so many I had to make multiple trips to carry them up the stairs to my truck. There are gazillions of lightning stones, and lots of other kinds that I can't identify. It was fun.
Parking is a pain if you aren't one of the half dozen or so ppl that get a roadside parking spot. Cars wait on the street for a spot to open up. This really needs to be remedied.
No concessions or bathroom facilities. Not even a litter basket that is could see. Maybe I didn't look...
