The Club at Garden Ridge — Attraction in Garden Ridge

I recently visited this venue with my fiancé and was disappointed by the outcome. We spent more time on the road getting there than at the actual venue. I had read a review previously regarding this venue being homophobic. However, I chose to give them the benefit of the doubt, as I am a property manager and understand some people just get upset and bash you online. However, the previous review was not far off. I will be giving my honest review, as yes I do know how important reviews are this day and age, and that is why I feel it is important that people know this information.

The lady that greeted us, I believe her name was Celina since that is who confirmed my appointment that day, was friendly when we arrived. As someone who manages leasing agents, I would have toured us first but this is not the approach she took, she seemed rushed and not thorough. Anyways, this does not mean she is homophobic, she did not give me that vibe. I finally decided to ask her about the review I had seen online. I politely asked her to be truthful with me regarding if what I had seen was true, as this is a very special day for us and we would not want to be uncomfortable in any way. She responded to this in these exact words “Ummmm yes and no” “We are not like that, but the owner is, and when we present them with your wedding date, there is a possibility he might deny it” I thanked her for not wasting my time, she said “I’m sorry” and we left.at the end of the day, I appreciate her for being honest with us and not allowing us to rent this venue if this is how they run their business. I did not plan on leaving a review because it is not her fault that the owner is homophobic. However when I vented to my friends about how sad I was that we did not get to see it, my friend wrote a review. The owner has since responded and made it seem as if me and my finance are liars. Therefore now I am here, to say the truth. In response to the owners response to my friends review, it is so typical for you to use god as an excuse to judge people. You do not need to “like” or agree with the way we live, but you can run a welcoming, inclusive business that does not discriminate. The Club at Garden Ridge was the perfect setting for capturing lifetime memories of a beautiful wedding for our daughter and son-in-law on September 16, 2017. When we first visited, we were immediately captivated with the venue. Yes, we did visit other venues, but no others compared to the amenities offered at the Club. Working with Kristi, the Club’s Weddings and Events Manager, from the onset was pleasurable; guidance provided, always responsive, a consummate professional. The Club’s day-of staff were on top of it, the venue was set-up as planned and was exactly as we had envisioned. It was absolutely stunning! Holly was attentive to details, met our needs and stayed with us to the end of the evening, helping us gather our belongings and depart on time. Thank you to a fabulous team!! The venue’s accommodations were inviting, relaxing and beautifully furnished; the Bridal Suite, Groom’s Man Cave and Family Lounge large and private, ideal for getting ready. The Gazebo on the lake, with the water fountain in the background, surrounded by lush landscaped grounds was the picture-perfect backdrop for a heavenly Wedding Ceremony officiated by Pastor Dale! The spacious ballroom was elegantly staged for an enchanting evening of celebration; highlighting delectable foods, drinks and a fun-filled dance floor. VERY HORRIBLE PLACE TO RENT A VENUE!!! HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! My now husband and I had paid the venue off and as soon as we did. They refused to return our calls and was very hard to get a hold of anyone in office. Also i was threaten that my wedding would be CANCELED if certain things werent done by a a set time even though we paid everything off. NO consideration as a human being or that life is BUSY Especially 4 DAYS before the wedding!!! 4 days before the wedding the owner said i had to drop some of my vendors on the spot because she didn't personally approve of them. I had different vendors based on i couldnt get a hold of the venue or kristi. I explain the vendors were already paid for and she still refused to negotiate therefore we had to find NEW Vendors all over again only so it would to her liking. Contract said we had the venue 9am-midnight but during prep, the owner did walk thrus with potential brides clients all while the girls and i were getting ready in the dressing room, as if we were on display for her own sale pitch. NO PRIVACY!!! Other Vendors i hired, that worked that day also stated they would not come to this venue based on how the whole management was to them. ALSO after all the grief they gave me, The DAY of the wedding KRISTI and her staff served themseleves food BEFORE anyone part/or attending the wedding ate. Also staff of the venue attempted to start stacking chairs and certain tables that werent being used at the time while the event was still going.
