140 Xing Bike Trail North Central Pathway — Attraction in Gardner

We are fortunate to have this interesting local bike trail. Starting from the north end, it starts behind the Winchendon YMCA and quickly crosses a bike bridge, following Whitney Pond. Cross Glenallen Road and follow to North Ashburnham Road, where it appears to end. However, go left on N. Ash, and left onto Rt. 12 a short distance to Old Gardner Rd on the left. Follow Old Gardner to the trail on the left. This section follows Rt. 140 into Gardner. If you are on a hybrid bike, I suggest crossing Rt. 140 onto an unpaved section through Winchendon State Forest. You'll cross Park Street and ride along the edge of the Gardner Golf Course and up into Crystal Lake Cemetary. Turn left onto Park Street, then left onto Veterans Dr and go around the skating rink to the paved bike trail behind it. You'll ride along the other side of Crystal Lake then cross Green Street where the trails continues in front of Mt. Wachusett CC. Trail ends then you need to go back out to a busy street about a half mile turn right the cross street down another street to pick the trail back up.
