day16 (05AUG2024) sanctuary 30: strange to hear a loon calling from the nearby lake when walking the moosewood loop in shady cool spruce/fir woodland. in contrast, the meadow loop is sunny and warm (it was 90F and humid today). trails are well marked, with signs at trail intersections and frequent blue/yellow discs indicating trail leads away/toward parking.

Beautiful spot for a peaceful quiet walk. If you're quiet enough, you may see beavers working on theor home, deer grazing, and swallows skimming the wildflowers. In the spring time it is it a tick fest, but anything outside of spring and early summer is great

This is such a beautiful place. Open fields, thick woods, wetlands, and even the quintessential old New England stone walls throughout. I didn't even do the entire loop. Can't wait to go back.

Got to the site late afternoon. Trying out our new pedometers. Neither one of us got them working. Need a tech savey young person. But totally enjoyed the walk. The woodsy area is a little rough if your not good on your feet. Trails are well marked. Came across an awesome beaver dam and had to cross a brook. Never saw one so wide. And they are felling really big trees. You just have to go see it. If not a member of Audubon or not a resident of Gardner be prepared to leave a fee. Well...

Peaceful 30 minute walk. I brought my 10 yrold he enjoyed it. We walked by a beaver dam saw some frogs. The open field has many flowers so there are a lot of bees and other insects. Most of the moosehead trail is lined with poison ivy. If you bring children here remind them not to pick at the plants or bother...
