We were in Punxsutawney, from Michigan, for Groundhog Day 2025. Since we frequent wineries in the beautiful Old Mission Peninsula in the Traverse City area of Michigan, we knew we had to stop at Punxsutawney's Groundhog Winery. It is a quaint little shop. We did some tastings and purchased a bottle and a pair of glasses, to have as souvenirs. Our server didn't seem very knowledgeable and she asked questions of the owners. We were surprised to learn that their wines are aged in plastic, which we believe accounted for the unusual flavor we detected in the wines. The wines we are accustomed to, are aged in oak or stainless steel. I wouldn't say the wines were good, nor bad, at the Groundhog Winery, just different. We are glad that we stopped and have it to add to our list of Punxsutawney places visited!

We stopped at this hidden gem on Saturday,June 22,2024. We were staying in a cabin in Dayton,PA and decided to explore. I’m so glad we stopped at this winery. The wonderful owners were so sweet, they have been in business for 9 years and enjoy going to festivals throughout Pennsylvania. The lady owner, I’ve forgotten her name was very generous in our wine sampling and we tried everything from her dessert wines to her dry Cabernet. We sat outside and enjoyed a glass of wine on that beautiful day. Some of us even left with goodies! If you’re in Pennsylvania, give this little gem a try.

My wife and I stopped in at Groundhog winery or the first time today. The staff was warm and friendly. The wine tasting was complimentary. They have a nice selection of sweet, dry, and fruit wines. We purchased a bottle of Hog Wild, and we sat outside and enjoyed a perfect spring day. If you are in the area, I would recommend you stopping by.
