I recently visited The Mounds ORV Park, hoping for an exciting trail riding experience on my dirt bike. However, my overall experience was marred by a few significant issues that need to be addressed.
One of the major drawbacks of this park is the condition of the terrain. It's evident that the presence of jeeps and trucks has taken a toll on the trails meant for dirt bike riders. The constant traffic from these larger vehicles has created numerous ruts and potholes, making it nearly impossible to maintain a smooth ride. Even at a moderate speed of 25 mph, it was a constant battle to avoid hitting potholes and navigating through the uneven terrain. This not only detracted from the enjoyment of riding but also posed safety concerns for dirt bike riders.
Another area of concern is the lack of beginner-friendly trails. As a rider, I believe it's crucial to have trails that cater to riders of all skill levels. Unfortunately, The Mounds ORV Park falls short in this aspect. The absence of trails suitable for beginners makes it a challenging environment for newcomers to get acquainted with off-road riding. It's disappointing to see such a limited range of options in terms of difficulty level.
Overall, my experience at The Mounds ORV Park was far from satisfactory. The deteriorated terrain caused by jeeps and trucks, coupled with the absence of beginner-friendly trails, significantly impacted the enjoyment and safety of my ride. I hope that the park management takes these concerns into consideration and takes steps to improve the conditions for dirt...
Read moreIt's mostly low-lying swamp land that someone found about the only use for it- mud bogging! For a "local" park within a short drive, it's not bad. Most trails are designed for narrower ATVs and SxSs unless you don't care about serious scratches in your Jeep's paint. They need to go in with a bunch of chainsaws and cut back about 2 feet on both sides of all the trails- leaving the larger diameter stumps at 12-30" as obstacles for Jeeps... then this place would be 5 stars!
There is a large, open area [maybe 3 acres] that's all sand and moguls for dirt bikes, then there's a real small rock climbing area for Jeeps- this needs to be expanded! There is a boulder course thats absolutely useless unless you own a $200,000 rock bouncer and a set of brass balls to even get through the entrance to it. Never seen anyone on it in my 6 visits. The money would've been better spent on an expansion of the obstacle course for the masses.
The trails that can be enjoyed by Jeeps or other stock vehicles are full of mud holes that can swallow a VW- all but a few have go-bys, but that's why this place only gets 3 stars instead of 4.
It's a fun place to visit for a couple hours in a Jeep- and then you've done everything twice... perhaps a full day if riding a dirt bike or ATV. Never go wheeling...
Read moreMy dad and I drove an hour and a half to get there only to find out that most of the park was closed. I have been there several other times with jeeps, atv's and dirt bikes, but it seems that something is always wrong with this ORV park. So I searched the web for a more creditable ORV park and thats when i found BUNDY HILL! Bundy hill is privately owned and not going through any lawsuits like its shady competitor "the mounds" Its a little further away for me but at least i know i will have a great time. At the end of the day I am glad that the mounds sucks; Because I finally found a real ORV park "Bundy Hill" not much further away. I will never waist my time with The Mounds again. However i did get my $15 fee back from the Mounds, but i lost my one free day to ride. Mounds is a 50/50, its either an OK time or a waist of time, but never...
