Awesome trails for mountain biking. Some of the best in the Southeast. They have everything from beginner to intermediate to advanced. Multiple skill levels and even a skills building park.
These trails are cleverly designed and well maintained by local volunteers who put in countless hours for the rest of us to enjoy. Hats off to all of you. Whether you ride clockwise or counterclockwise as the day of the week requires, you get similar levels of difficulty, climbs and downhill flows. Every trail is extremely well marked with multiple signs with trail names, direction of travel and intermediate and advanced sections. It is amazing how they were able to design trails to offer so much.
It is mostly shaded so the sun won’t be beating down on you constantly. A lot of nice tight single track, some open areas, bridges, switchbacks, berms, jumps and more for a whole lot of fun.
Over the years these trails have only gotten better. The parking lot has grown many times over. There are multiple bathrooms by the parking lot (though they are horribly smelly), water fountains and even a bike repair area with a bike stand, air, and several bike tools.
And the best part is everyone is friendly and respectful of each other whether on foot or rolling on nubbys. I’ve even had people help me out when my bike needed adjustment. Hope you enjoy these trails as...
Read moreThis is one of the best trail systems in Georgia. It is well maintained, frequently has new additions, and it has trails for anyone from kids up to experts. Mosquito Flats trail is for beginners and kids, and it's a great introduction to mountain biking being that it's mostly flat and is just over 1 mile. But it has an extension and also Mosquito Bite trail if you're looking to add a little challenge. Van Michael trail is all about climbs and descents. If you want a workout, THIS is the trail. Lots of climbing, but once you reach the top, it's a fast flow down. Dwelling Loop trail is a good all around intermediate trail with rocks, roots, and it even has a flow trail extension at the top, which is an awesome descent with big rollers and a few table tops. Lastly is South Loop trail, it is similar to Dwelling in difficulty, but has more technical fearures. Tie in all 3 loops and the Mosquito trails for 14.4 miles of fun and challenge. This is a place to go several times, in order to experience all that it has to offer. PLUS Old Rope Mill is only 5 minutes away with an additional 13 miles of trails. You could definitely make a day out of the 2...
Read moreBlankets Creek is a great place to ride your mountain bike. There are three serious trails--South Loop (SL), Van Michael (VM), and Dwelling Loop (DL). SL is the most technical with lots of roots, rocks and odd angles. SL is similar to Big Creek (RAMBO) but SL is more difficult. VM is completely different. VM has lots of hills and climbing and, of course, some good descents. VM is Sope Creek on steroids. VM has some great berms and some really flowing areas. DL is more similar to SL but without so many roots and rocks. Some gradual climbs, but nothing like VM. DL is the most ridden of the three trails. In the middle of DL is an area with some drops and small ramps--don't miss it if you like to get some "air". My preferred riding order is to ride SL first, then VM and finish with DL. If you ride, please make a contribution in the box at the beginning...
