I really enjoyed my visit. It was so peaceful and serene. Although I didn't catch the fish I had a really good time just being out in nature and I'm amazed at all the concept are available for the public to fish but I do have concerns that the fish won't bite because they're being fed often everyday and it kind of cuts back on the chances of catching fish although I've only been there one time I do plan to return and fish other ponds. I've been too and noticed that other Public Fishing Areas in this state that are managed and stocke for the chances of catching fish but those chances are slim to none because they're being fed. I don't know maybe the fish ought to be able to forge on their own and fight for their own food instead of being hand fed but for whatever reasons you do that for us and to make them bigger and grow faster but I would like to go and at least get something. I've been to Big Lazer, Flat Creek I've also been to Paradise by Tifton GA and PFA in Dodge County but it was closed and the lake was drained because the Water Dam gate broke a all the water drained out except for a little. But I had very little success over the years at those facilities. I do plan to go back and hopefully be able to sit down or talk to someone that could give me some pointers and guide me to what I need to use for Bait or when the spawn is and get a little bit more information about the land and everythin. Hopefully the info will better my chances next time You're doing an outstanding job and I appreciate everything that Georgia is doing for the public and Wildlife Management that's wonderful North Carolina doesn't have it and that's why I moved...
Read moreCharlie Elliott is a great resource for middle Georgia outdoors people. It has multiple stocked lakes for fishing, trails, and a shooting and archery area. It has great facilities around the area, but it seems to not have enough staff to keep things clean. The bathrooms I visited were not clean and the campground was disgusting. I cleaned a kitchen garbage bag full of trash from my campsite. The campground is primitive. When I visited in the summer of 2021, there was no water, picnic tables or lamp posts. Just fire rings. That said, the sites were quite large and we had a great time.
I attended the Fish'n'Learn program in April 2022 and stayed at the lodge. The lodge was similar to the newer state park lodges. It has a beautiful dining room with great food. The rooms are comfortable with two to three beds, and all rooms come with a private bathroom with shower. Our beds had a plastic wrap over the mattress, in case children have an accident, and it was a minor nuisance. The rooms done have TV's and fridges, but there was a fridge to use in the conference hall.
The Fish'n'Learn program was top notch and we received lots of private attention and everyone was super nice. The kids had a great time, and so did...
Read moreI visited for a quilting retreat, so my review is based on the dorms, food, and conference facilities. The dorms themselves are "no frills", meaning no phones, TV's or refrigerators. They are a bit aged, but I saw no indication of disrepair. The beds are a bit hard, but by adding a couple blankets under the bottom sheet, slept very well. There's no daily cleaning or making beds, but they do come around daily and empty the trash cans and replace the dirty towels. It's not the Hilton, but for what it is, the dorms are pretty good. The conference facilities are excellent. They provided us with ice, coffee, and I believe there was hot tea water, at all times of the day. The food was very good, especially the blueberry scones and roast beef. They provided us with plenty of tables and chairs for sewing, but there are only 2 outlets per 4 table cluster, so if you need more, be sure to bring power strips. The bathrooms were very clean and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and professional, and too great care of us during our four day stay. I would highly recommend this location for small group events that don't require lavish facilities and accommodations. There were 41 of us, and we were all...
