This is an excellent park, suitable for all ages, from babies to seniors. There are 2 playgrounds, one designed for 2 to 5 year olds, the other for 5 to about 12 year olds. Near them are 2 Little Libraries and a restroom building ( which is handicapped accessible). Closer to the entrance, there's a basketball court, a skate park, a possibly rock climbing area and a couple of old style swing sets. The park is dog friendly, but be sure to keep your dogs on a leash. There are deer in the woods that could tempt dogs to take off. There are a number of possible trail lengths, from about a quarter mile to over a mile. All are paved, so suitable for trikes, bikes, or wheelchairs. On the longest stretch, there are a few slopes that might concern new bike riders or wheel chair users with less arm strength. The long path is through the woods, so you don't really see other portions of the trail. All in all, a great place to spend an...

Friend of mine and I walked this park and I can not say I'll be back. I suppose I was already a little unnerved by an old article (2016) I saw about a murder there but she wanted to give it a go so I figured it must be ok...pulled up (it's 7 :30 AM) to a police car parked there which didn't make me feel better...but we pushed forward, just about every other park goer walking alone had a stick, golf club or club as they proceeded. Guess they know something I didn't but I felt uneasy, and the cop posted there and the walkers wielding blunt objects just kinda confirmed it. Decent walk but shady environment, we...

This park continues to be a decent spot to take the children. There are two playgrounds, one for children 2-5 and then 5 and up. The playground area was clean and somewhat engaging for the toddlers. Mine seemed to enjoy the larger playground. I will say that I have frequented the walking trails here and they are very well maintained and feels “safe”. There are usually other walkers out there, so that’s comforting.

So, the one disappointment is that trash cans were overflowing and the grass was a bit unkempt. Overall it’s appearing that an update is needed with the “weathering” that has taken place. I still...

I have been an avid walker at DeShong Park for many years. Lately, I have been impressed by the cleanliness of the park. I have seen a new park attendant there. I see him daily making sure the park is clean. I asked him his name, however, I can't recall it. He is a tall African American gentlemen and I pass by him as he walks the trails picking up debris. I have never in all my many years seen any other attendant do this. He is doing a magnificent job. I think his name begins with an 'F'. He does a great job! 💯
