They have a great dog park here, that is most enjoyable for the dogs. There are different areas for small, medium, and large dogs ( or dogs who think they are). The park now has some angility structures for you to train your dogs. They just installed new turf to make it more esthetic. Dogs must be vaccinated for rabies, and the owner is responsible for picking up their dogs "deposits". ( Although SOME people ignore this rule!) These was a picnic table in each area, but have recently been removed. It does get a little messy after it rains, as water accumulates in some areas. (Maybe the new turf will help with that) There is a water fountain there for the dogs, but it has been turned off for winter. P.A.W.S is a sponsor for the park, and deserves to be recognized for their dedication to animals. Sometimes they have a "dog fair" where various agencies or companies offer services or information that is beneficial to dogs and their owners. These is also a great playground for your family. Picnic tables are available for enjoying...
Read moreThis was truly a nice looking park, Etowah Park is really large, it has all kinds of activities.there where youth baseball game’s going on today on Sunday August 28th! There are bathroom facilities, vending machine, possibly a working concession stand when games are going I didn’t notice one today open. There are several baseball fields, tennis courts, skateboarding & rollerskating area which was really fun. playgrounds for smaller children and a little bit bigger children are in a playground up top, plenty of parking and trail walking. I love kids baseball! It’s fun to see the unexpected reactions of the kids on the field when they’re learning new things. It is so exciting to see someone get a home run and be happy about it ,this is the true spirit of baseball. The batter running wildly to getting to the base before they get out, or stealing a base in the nick of time. The tension, the excitement the crowds going wild…. Who could not love kid’s...
Read moreEtowah Park needs the baseball field fixed instead of making everyone go all the way to Alto Park (which traffic is horrendous for at the time of day games are played). They have been offered donated plumbing services and denied them to fix the consession stand/bathrooms and need to fix a few holes in the fields. Tennis Court is ran kind of odd.. you have adults giving lessons and kicking people off courts claiming they are their courts (this isn't RTC and you can't "rent" the tennis courts like a Pavillion) tennis courts could use high nets (to keep balls in) and a hitting wall (tennis courts are heavily used so no waste of money on that) and we shall see if the 2017 splost funded project for the skate park will actually finally happen.... they closed it a few weeks ago for the project but I have not seen...
