Since the pandemic began my wife and I like to pack a lunch and drive the 10 minutes to the beach. Nice place to eat beneath the trees.
Today, 13 Dec 2020 at 1400 was no exception. Sunday, middle of December, the lake is very low, we took our sandwiches to the park, paid my 5 dollars to park but the gate to the beach area was locked, leaving the boat ramp parking open.
Backed my car into a nice shaded spot, staying in the car with my wife to have our lunch because the picnic tables were a little off in the distance. Less than 5 minutes the parking patrol (rude staff mentioned in earlier posts) waltzed over. I asked her not to approach any closer as she was not masked and our windows were down.
The "parking police" informed me that I was in a space designated for vehicles with boat trailers and I would have to move to a single-vehicle space (out in the sun).
You would think the park attendant would exercise a little common sense in this situation. I will admit that I challenged her instruction for me to relocate from this spot, a quick glance would indicate there was ample room for vehicle/trailer parking in addition to the single space that I was in. I even politely told the lady that if spaces started getting full I would gladly move my car. With the urging of my wife I complied and begrudgingly moved my car.
When we finished eating I drove through the parking lot and counted 50 (fifty) FIVE-ZERO marked parking spaces for vehicles towing trailers. There were only TEN of these FIFTY spaces in use at the time. If these special spots were scarce like they are in the summer, I NEVER would have thought of stopping there.
It doesn't take a great deal of common sense to apply to this situation instead of being a horn-braking zealot.
She ruined a simple lunch before I start another tough week ahead.
Shame on...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I went to eat our lunch. I paid $5. Once we started walking over to a bench to eat, this rude lady walks up and tells us we can't be here because the park is closed. I then informed here that the sign up front says the beach was closed, not the whole park. She told me not to get technical with her. It's not my fault the sign isn't clear. She then told me that if I ate at a table that she would call the Park ranger on me. I asked for a refund for the $5 since I couldn't even be there. She said there was no way to refund my money. If the place is not open, wouldn't a better sign say only boat launching, park closed until a certain date. I assume beach closed means the beach part, not the tables where we can eat. I did get very upset with this lady, but she needs to learn how to talk to people. She was extremely rude and just arrogant. Seems like she lives off ruining...
Read moreI suggest you elect to utilize another boat/water craft-Picnic facility. From the drive up to the gate/Office I was met by an elderly Caucasian female who was non professional and quite discourteous, almost to the point of being aggressively argumentative.I swallowed my pride and ventured forward into the facility as I was meeting several friends currently back for a short time from Afghanistan in our military. One of our group members had a water craft and was met by DNR enforcement and told inaccurate and fabricated statements relative to said water craft. The experience reminded me of something from Schindler List. I would advise spending your $ elsewhere! These folks do not want Nor appreciate your business...
