I recently had the pleasure of attending the Georgia Untamed Zoo’s annual Jazz in the Jungle gala, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, I was met with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made it easy to connect with people from all walks of life. The mix of great music, good company, and meaningful conversation set the tone for a perfect evening.
One of the highlights for me was the incredible animal encounters. Being able to get up close with some of the zoo’s most fascinating residents was both exciting and eye-opening. It reminded me just how important the zoo’s work is in protecting these species and educating the public about conservation.
The silent auction was equally impressive. The selection of items was both unique and engaging—everything from local art to one-of-a-kind experiences. It was clear that a lot of thought went into curating the offerings, and it made supporting the zoo’s cause even more enjoyable.
The catering, provided by Elegant Occasions of Hogansville, was outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor. It was the perfect complement to the evening’s festivities.
The live jazz music tied the whole event together, creating a relaxed and vibrant backdrop for socializing. I enjoyed catching up with old friends, meeting new ones, and learning more about the zoo’s wildlife protection initiatives. Those conversations were a great reminder of how events like this not only raise funds but also build a community of support for the zoo’s mission.
From start to finish, Jazz in the Jungle was a first-class event. I left feeling not only entertained but also inspired by the dedication and passion of everyone involved. I’m already looking forward to attending again next year.

Read moreA beautiful new zoo with a unique collection of animals, some we've never even seen before, and our favorite hobby is touring zoos so that says a lot! My husband and I visited yesterday for a tour, we already cannot wait to go back. We were lucky enough to meet Tommy, the head zookeeper, and we could talk to him for hours and hours about animals. It's obvious he adores each and every animal, is extremely passionate about them, and wants them to have the best life possible. One of the coolest people you will ever meet, a truly genuine, authentic person. I've wanted to work with animals since I was a child (Who else grew up on endless hours of Animal Planet, Crocodile Hunter, and Zoboomafoo?), and meeting someone like that is honestly truly inspiring.
You can tell they were all very well taken care of and loved but still respected for being wild animals and encouraged to exhibit their full natural behaviors. The people here really care about them and make sure their needs are met. I loved hearing about the enrichment given to them. The animals were full of personality and allowed to be themselves! It felt like there was so much soul and spirit in this place. The animals were never forced into doing anything they were uncomfortable with, it was all on their terms.
I cannot wait to see this place continue to grow, it's exciting to see the new beautiful enclosures and hear about up-and-coming plans. Very educational and fun. Highly recommended for everyone of all ages. More than worth the drive. I want to be there right now, take me back haha! Coming here made me yammer during the whole ride home about wanting to live there now. This place will be sure to give you a unique experience and memories that will last a lifetime. I love to see a new zoo wanting to do things right, there is so...
Read moreThis little gem was a fun find. We LOVED the Capybara Encounter. It was so cool to feed them and have an up close chance to learn about the giant rodents. Justin was an awesome host and answered all our questions. He even took the time to get several animals to come out of hiding so we could see them better. He was so knowledgeable and thoughtful. Give that guy a raise!
The bird area was so fun too. We even bought a second round of feeder sticks so we could hangout with the birds longer.
We were pretty disappointed to learn that our prebooked tickets did not come with a disclosure that many animals were not going to be at the zoo, but at the Hummingbird Festival on 10.21.23 instead. We probably would have rescheduled had we known.
Another unfortunate find was a dirty bathroom with no toilet paper, empty soap dispenser, and only a couple papertowels. I reported it to the cashier with not much for a concerned response.
Overall, they have so many wonderful animals to see and I'm glad we went. I doubt we will be back, though.
