Very nice park with public picnic areas, canoe - kayak in the lake, fishing, playground, and an excellent 3.5 mile long trail for walking, hiking, running, bicycle. Very clean, with no pets allowed. The trail is properly maintained by the city with new gravel here and there, so that it does not hold water after the rain, and some protruding rocks and roots painted red so that you can easily see them. The lake is a reservoir, so motored boats are not allowed, nor swimming is. If you want to fish your dinner go elsewhere, here it is catch and release only. A couple of negative details: Signs say they are open dawn to dusk, but sometimes dawn is not followed and you may find yourself locked out waiting for the gates to open. Many times there is a party in the picnic area next to the main entrance, they leave their cars on the road instead of driving to the parking area and walk back, and the park personnel seems to allow and accept this practice.
Update 05/2025: The upkeep of the trail is nowhere as good as it has been, with protruding rocks and roots everywhere, plus many areas getting muddy after the rain. Many bicyclists are riding fast as they can in a trail where mainly old people and families with babies are walking. Maybe they need a speed limit to understand that pedestrians are having the right of way? The park authorities need to step in. I have not noticed inappropriate parking since my original review. Overall the park has deteriorated. Down one...
Read moreThe place is very!! Clean. I have high hopes for it! Yesterday was the first time I have been there. Unfortunately I got there right at closing time. The ground keeper was friendly he informed me that the park was closed. I had only been finishing about ten minutes. I definitely plan to go back soon. The park is completely fenced in and gated. The Hours of operation 8:00am to 5:30 pm. I believe it would be better 6:00am to 8:30pm. It definitely would give 2nd shift people a chance to walk around or get a few minutes to fish!! but that is just my opinion. Also there are NO pet's allowed. I think that...
