Exceptional county park in Carroll County western Georgia. Spent three days, Fri-Sun. 32 Water/power only and 12 Full Hook-up (50amp). The 32 water/power sites are more rustic and some are limited in size and would be a challenge for larger rigs to maneuver. 7 and 27 would be the best, with 11 and 13 pull thru. The 50 amp only Full Hook-up sites are easy access and will accept any length RV with sites 7-11 lake view. Sites are only available by calling and reserving. There is not an online reservation process and all sites are first come first chosen. Gina will most likely take your call and she could not be more charming and helpful. There are safe, paved and lighted walking trails around the lake. The two lakes are stocked with fish and glass bottom boat clear. Putt-putt golf, paddle boats, swimming, group lodges, hiking, fishing are some of the activities available. The bath houses are a bit dated but well maintained. The water is hot and plentiful. One drawback is that the closest bathhouse is a long walk around the road from the Full Hook Up section. This park is serious about noise and cleanliness. The Camp Host is a real patriot, friendly and ready to help in a moments notice. Nearby City of Carrolton is charming and full of restaurants, arts and Farmers Markets. And for us, the biggest feature, is there is a Dollar General about 3 miles away! Haha We camped at John Tanner Park in a Travel Trailer.

This was our first time at this park. We wanted to do a 3 night camping trip. When we got there, we were put in the new area with sites that have on site sewer and 50 amp service. The sites had no power because it were never turned on at the main electrical panels. We had to do it ourselves. The RV pads and roads were black asphalt, which absorbs the sun and is extremely hot in this heat. In addition, the hitch on my camper sunk into the asphalt due to the asphalt being so hot. Camper parking pads should be always be concrete! It was very muddy with a lot of red clay, which was very messy. We came to find out that those sites shouldn't have been booked because construction wasn't finished in that area. But someone at the park messed up and rented out those sites. So that explains why that area was in the condition it was in. The rest of the park is great. Nice beach and campground! Nice view of the lake from the 50 amp campsites!

Average 4 stars. The lake and beach area would get 5 stars of I could separate it from the campground. The campground would get 3 stars. The 5 stars: The lake and beach areas are beautiful with loads of picnic tables, nice sand, and mostly-fire-ant-free grass. The summer sunsets are gorgeous and the water is refreshing. The gate closes at 5:00 so it deters a lot of motion in the evening. The campground hosts live there year round and are really nice. The 3 stars: The campground is overcrowded. The sites are super close together, there are really bright street lights everywhere, and the bathrooms are old, poorly designed, and (again) over crowded. It's over-priced for car/tent camping: not worth the $30. For an RV, it's probably ok, but again, it's really crowded and there's just not enough space to move around.

Park is nice and well maintained. There is 2 lakes. One has a beach and swimming area. The other is just a fishing lake. There are 2 sections for camping. One is full hookup and the other just offers power and water. There is 2 bathhouses in this area. One has a laundry area. There is not a change machine available and they do not have change in the office. There is a paved walking trail around the lake with the beach. There are benches and swings along the walking trail. There is multiple playgrounds onsite. A new play ground has been added after the removal of a putt putt course that basically just needed the carpet replaced and a few other minor maintenance details. If you are bring a rv in for camping if you are traveling from Carrollton pay attention to the entrance. The park sign is in the middle of the entrance. It has recently been replaced due to being hit by a rv entering the park. I think there are 33 sites with just water and power and maybe a dozen full hook ups. The full hookups is basically where they cleared the trees out and paved a cul de sac with rv sites around it. Very little...

Had a great day. Stayed a couple hours and between this lake or Buchanan I'd choose this lake any day. BUT my kids (ages 3 and 6) unfortunately caught HFAM decease and I now have ecoli and the only explanation is the lake. Honestly could've gotten it from anywhere but this time it was most definitely the lake. I understand babies and little kids swim and you never know if they pee in the lake however if your kid needs to poop...please get them out and take them poop. It's not like they're are gonna empty the lake every time there's a fecal incident. Again this could happen anywhere that's why I still say it's a good lake but if this keeps happening then it will no longer be clean. Another reason I know it was the lake just to clarify my daughter (the one who first started with the symptoms) wouldn't keep her mouth closed in the lake. Kept putting her hands in her mouth just like any other toddler. So that confirmed it was the lake for me. So please parents or aunts and uncles....people with kids...possibly even adults. Please get out to go to...
