This is a very beautiful park and the staff are so friendly and helpful, and what I truly appreciate about the staff and community is that they are very inclusive and welcoming to everyone. This is a great place to camp right out of your car if you prefer. The check in was easy, you can do it by phone or in person, now finding the primitive camping spots were a bit tricky at first. One of the easiest way to find it is go down straight past the check in area, then past a large cabin, when you see the road spit into three, go to the left, you will see spots with gravel suitable for one car, a fire pit and one table, they are really spaced out so you will get lots of privacy! its gated, safe area, and there is a creek and walking trials one 1mile the other 2mi, the bathhouse has a shower with warm water! Walk to the one that is near the creek side its easier to get to from the camping sites. There were not many people camping during the week so you will get much peace and quiet. Check it out, I highly recommend, have fun...

By the scenic Chattahoochee River with beautiful lookout deck, (you can drive right up to it) plenty of woods & hiking foot trails. Horse trails and nearby horse rental service available. (Foot trails are not paved) Rustic campsites available among shady pine trees near a rocky outcropping - great for photo opportunities. Use caution if driving a small car with low clearance in the camping areas as those are not paved and there are a few rocks or muddy hazards. Playground & splash area for kids, open mowed firlds for romping, historic 2 story cabin (empty/ not furnished) open to public to explore. Great place to hike or picnic. NO swimming allowed in large river, it's too dangerous. A small $5 fee per vehicle at ranger station gets you in all day or buy an annual Carroll County parks pass for $40 which is good for one year till the last day of the month you buy it in. (Example: If you buy it on March 1st, its good till next year through March 31st) Hours vary slightly but tend to coincide with...

Beautiful park, quiet, clean bathrooms, pond to fish in, large pavilion areas, well maintained. The playground area is fairly basic with climbing & slides, there aren’t any swings at all. They say they have a splash pad, it was not in use when I was there but it was also April and still chilly when the sun went down. It costs $5.00 when you enter the park. The call it a parking fee. You can park at the playground area or at your rented pavilion space. The rental fees are very reasonable and the parking fee is $5.00 per carload. The pavilion we used had a fire pit and basketball goal (although no pad) as well. The signs to navigate to your pavilion can be a bit difficult to figure out, even more so, which pavilion is which because it is not easy to see the numbers on them from the roadway. The staff at the front gate was very friendly & helpful explaining directions but finding the actual pavilion was still a bit difficult. Over all, I really liked this park and most definitely...

After 3 other attempts to find the perfect spot to spend the day, THIS PARK DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The lady at the entrance was super friendly and informative. I did not know that if you pay at one state park it is valid for all of them that day. Thanks!!! 😁 We explored at first. Seeing what all there was to do and soak up. The replica of the house was an added bonus. And you can even go inside of it. The grave of McIntosh directly across the street. There was a separate area with pavilions for parties and get togethers. An overlook or a bluff. But the best part (for me) was when you get to there river. The sounds of the rapids, the water flowing. The exploring, the informative signs explaining how the rock formations formed and when. There were trails, fields, picnicking tables and pavilions located throughout the whole park. A Sandy beach area, however it does say no swimming everywhere. But fishing (didn't catch anything) and hiking or riding horses was all there.

I've been coming to Mcintosh for YEARS. I love this place. $5parking fee (don't remember off the top of my head The camping fee) The campsites, while they don't have water or electric are pretty private and there's always some wood to burn laying around. The views are serene, right beside the river and plenty of old trees and overlooks and a couple trails to walk. There's almost always someone on a horse riding around. I've kayaked many times on the Chattahoochee river and almost always get off at Mcintosh. There's a couple of really big flat fields that I've seen people flying RC airplanes on and it's a great place to throw a football or frisbee or whatever. They have a small splash pad for little kids. They have some pavilions. And of course there is a replica of Chief McIntosh’s house and his burial sight with lots of information about the area on signs throughout the park. I’ll keep coming here for many years to come.
