The park itself is nice. Full of wasp nest under the sitting areas though. And the playground also isn’t shaded so prepare to be hot. I’ve been twice so far and today was the time I decided to go in the rec center because I wanted a smoothie. There is no greeting when you walk in. It was two or three people at the desk and they all just stared at me and my family. I seen the Tom’s coffee and smoothie stand so I proceed to walk over when the gentleman at the counter finally decides to speak and see are you all members we need to know where you’re going. I guess I was supposed to automatically know I need to stop and communicate with them either though NEITHER of them said anything when we walked in just stared. He wasn’t the friendliest either. I’ve never been to a rec center where the front desk didn’t greet you and say “how I can help you?” Especially if they expect you to stop at the desk and inform where you’re going. The staff at the coffee/smoothie stand made up for that though. Needless to say I won’t be back in there. The front staff ( especially the guy) could use a course in...
Read moreSo this is specifically about the kids park area it sits out in the middle of an open field and gets hot hot hot in the summertime. I have no idea why they cleared all the trees unless they were already gone. They need some of those tarps to cover up the apparatus of the kids don't burn themselves. Otherwise surprisingly there's always kids there to play although they're now more challenging and better thought out kids parks. They're not many of those anywhere nearby downtown Stockbridge has one initiated location as does McDonough. This park is surrounded by soccer field and there's a dog park but it's too far away to watch kids and dogs unless your kids are older and then they probably don't want to be on this kids playground. There is a big open field for soccer not on a soccer field or baseball or frisbee or whatever and there's a small walking trail in the woods nearby. They're picking facilities I think you have to reserve them in advance but they are sell them booked solid. Overall decent but nothing to write home about and it needs to...
Read moreVery nice park to ride bicycles and walk during the week! The area is wide open and relatively flat surfaces with public restrooms. Would NOT recommend using this park on the weekends for these two activities, as it is a park that is Henry County's Soccer Complex and is quite crowded with vehicles and people. There is also a playground area and Dog Park/"Bark Park". A beautiful, quiet and peaceful park on weekdays!
Update: We still enjoy and recommend this park for walking & bicycle riding DURING THE WEEK...NOT ON THE WEEKEND, due to soccer games!
9.6.22 Update: Be careful here after heavy rain(s)! • Standing water occurs in the Pavilion Parking Lot (first area on the left) • Standing water and subsequent large silt deposit occurs around the SEMI-CLOGGED STORM DRAIN in the NW area of the Main Parking Lot of the soccer fields. Note: I have reported this drain to Henry County Parks & Recreation Dept. several times, but no corrective action has yet occurred to undo this clogged...
