A delightful mixup brought us to this gem, when a traveling companion wanted to find gardens in Fort Valley and instead of Massee Lane, we ended up at Pineola. The owners could not have been more welcoming after we asked through their website about their hours. Typically they open to the public a few times a year but they invited us and spent 1.5 hours giving us a tour and telling us the many stories of the Bassett generations who lived in this magnificent property. The owners are not related but have a deeply preservationist spirit and clearly invested so much of themselves in making Pineola a true garden spot.
