Beware of 3 local aggressive pitbull mix dogs in the dog park section of Horseshoe Bend in the morning. Brought my young dog there one day, as I had done many times in the past, and he got jumped the second we got in the gate. The two reckless dog owners (can’t call them gentlemen) were useless at trying to restrain their dogs, instead blaming me for entering the park!!! One of these 3 dogs had my dog’s ears in his mouth and wouldn’t let go. It was the scariest situation I’ve ever experienced in my thirty years of dog ownership and dog park outings. Never have my dogs ever been attacked, let alone be the attacker. I am so relieved things didn’t get worse for us as we made our escape. A sweet lady by the river saw and heard it all and was just as shocked as I was rattled by these two idiots and their dangerous dogs. Be very careful. It’s a shame because I’ve had nothing but good experiences at this park...

Lovely, peaceful place to view the river. Complete with paved parking, restrooms, picnic tables, pavilion, playground, large open field and paved walkways.

Dogs are allowed and owners are expected to clean up after them. So, please bring those plastic bags.

There were some mallards and geese hanging out in the water near the shore. Didn't seem phased by the presence of dogs. Clearly they get fed on a regular basis.

We didn't use the restrooms but the park seemed well maintained overall. It appeared like they could use a couple more trash cans but, I imagine they're probably concerned with drawing too much attention from hungry wildlife.

If you're a local or just in town for the day and are looking for a place to enjoy the...

Very nice park. Has an area to walk along the river with many benches to take brakes or relax. Plenty of parking. Several benches for picnics. Very spread out. Really clean heated/air conditioned bathrooms. A stage for a band and small gathering. Some nights they do an event "picking in the park" with live bluegrass type music. They just built a new playground for kids. There is a big gazebo toward the end of the park. And there is an big parking lot in the front for vehicles towing trailers to turn around. Plenty of room to play sports and kick a soccer ball or toss a baseball. A great area to spend the day or a quick pit stop. A little bit of everything...

We loved this place. Kids were able to do their own tubing! Be mindful, kids fell off tubes (likely horsing around), they can all swim and they were able to touch the bottom, but later in the day, the river grew and they weren't able to touch the bottom anymore in certain areas. It was also flowing faster. They loved it since it was better for tubing. Adult supervision or life jackets recommended if non swimmers. The water was too cold for me, but I loved the scenery, shaded picnic tables and bathrooms. Oh you can fish too, though hubby didn't catch anything.

The river was up and muddy but the park is a very nice area to go fishing without having to hike over rocks and down steep hills. There is a nice boat ramp at the end of the parking area where you can put in kayaks. There are plenty of beaches and picnic tables alone the edge of the river where you can sit and enjoy a break. The restrooms could use a little work as both men and women’s were dirty and in need of cleaning.
