I didn't mind paying $10.... Until I got back there and there were 3 young unsupervised campers fishing. All of their hoodies and poles were wrapped on Benny and their bikes thrown about. While trying to set up my phone in the wonderfully provided selfie stands I was almost hooked in the face 3 times by the unsupervised children fishing. Each time we asked them to watch where they were swinging their lures, each time they continued to scare multiple paying guests. Would have been cool to stick around and get a good picture but not worth the risk.

Read moreI don't think I can say good enough things about this spot! Although we didn't camp here (or even stay nearby!), it was absolutely worth the trek over during our first family trip to the U.P. The grounds were amazingly clean and beautiful, the owners and staff were INCREDIBLY accommodating, and Benny was more awe-inspiring than we could have expected! Beyond this, the owners went above and beyond to aid in a personal emergency we experienced (that was of no fault of theirs or the grounds!) - something that they had no real need or responsibility to help with, but they stepped up without hesitation to assist anyway. Needless to say, when we make our SECOND family trip back to the U.P., we'll absolutely be stopping in again...

This one in the upper peninsula of Michigan is gorgeous. He reclines on the shore of the Manistique River on the property of Northland Outfitters in Germfask. These folks privately funded this installation. Please go visit, buy some goods in their shop, or drop/send a donation, and help them keep this site open and taken care of.
