Read moreThis was one of the highlights of our trip. Not only was the visitor center wonderful but there are two driving "trails" (one 7 miles, one a bit shorter) that you can use with your car, on bike or on foot. These trails wind their way through the ponds and creeks in the preserve, taking you within a few feet of animals of all types. The trails are open after the visitor center closes and a great time to see wildlife is in the evening, near dusk. We went there daily, sometimes driving, sometimes parking and walking and other times just staying in one place, listening to the calls of loons, trumpeter swans and other birds. We saw beaver and otters as well as many songbirds. Our return plans to visit MI will include Seney in the future.
We stayed at Northland Outfitters in Germfask which was only a few miles from the Refuge. This was great because it was really nice to have a short drive "home" after viewing until dark. We will do this again too. You can camp there (really nice, large campsites, immaculate park-like grounds) or rent one of...
Read moreThis was a really nice little refuge. There is a visitors center that contained a touch table with various animals for kids(or kids at heart) a few more wildlife setups and a video to watch as well. The trail is about a mile all the way around(more or less) and you will see many things on your way around. We were able to see a few different types of birds, some muskrat, chipmunks and a deer. You can also drive on a path with wheelchair accessible viewing platforms that have free- to-look viewfinders. The refuge is very large itself and very well taken care of. We just stopped over for a quick tour on our way back down South, it's a nice place for a...
