Skip this place. The salespeople aren't bad, but the manager will attempt to wring every last dollar out of you. I'll give you my story and you're welcome to risk it if you'd like. Also, check each post to make sure ALL the sides are visible. To explain...
I found a lovely blue 2012 Nissan Juke on Carfax. When I looked at the dealer's website, everything looked good. All the features I wanted, a good price ($8500), and no damage reported. Remember that last one. It'll be important later.
I spoke to Karina in online sales and after a few questions, I told her, great and that I would see her tomorrow. Now, I live about three plus hours away via train so I clear my day and head down the next day to test drive the car. Once I get there, Eduardo greets me out front. He is friendly and attentive and we head inside. Unfortunately, it looks like Karina didn't hear me say I was coming in because she wasn't there and no one knew I was coming. Let me make this crystal clear. I was NOT upset about that. I only mention it because it'll be important later.
Eduardo jumps in and is an absolute delight. He is upfront and honest with me, asking if I had been informed about "the dent." I let him know I had not and start to ask questions. Turns out there was a (in his words) "massive dent" in the driver's side door, as if someone had opened it into something. Apparently it was just cosmetic and didn't even need paint, but they had sent it off to be repaired so it wasn't available to test drive. Eduardo had a newer model Juke on the lot and we started chatting about that one. This whole time, he was extremely helpful and kind.
I test drove the Juke they had and, while I liked it, it wasn't what I wanted in terms of features. So we came back to talk about the 2012 and he went to get his manager.
This is where the trouble started.
The man who came out was not someone who should ever be in a customer-facing role. Remember when I said Karina made one tiny little mistake in not telling folks I was coming? He apologized for that and said he was going to "yell at her later." I thought he was joking so I told him that reality, it was fine. It was then that he repeated himself and sounded serious about it. I don't like it when superiors showboat like that.
But I still sat down with this mean little man in his ill-fitted suit and we started talking about the dent. I assumed they would discount the car because it was damaged enough to need repair, but the manager instead told me that the price online was the price WITH the dent and that, if I wanted it fixed, that would increase the price. Of the car they sent to get repaired without knowing I was even coming to look at.
???
He gave me the price with and without the dent (which was about $1000 difference for a no-paint repair?) and said he would call the garage and try to tell them to leave the dent if I was still interested in the lower price. I asked if there were any pictures of the dent. Nope. He said he'd try to get some and have Eduardo send them to me via text.
So I left. It's now a few weeks later. No pictures. No idea if the dent has been fixed. Not buying a darn thing from this guy.
I do sincerely hope that Karina and Eduardo find somewhere else to go if they are being yelled at. They were both very nice, but the manager is delusional if he thinks undisclosed damage that was NOT factored into the Carfax price range being fixed increases a car's value. Good luck and if you buy the 2012 blue Juke? Just be aware it...
Read moreSynopsis of my dealings with Glendale Nissan is to avoid as they are crooked and misleading with their advertisement. Read below and see pics for further explanation. The picture of my Excel document with rebates broken out will help to save you time and give you the real price the car should be listed at on the website. I also will be reporting this dealership to the Attorney General, Federal Trade Commission, and Better Business Bureau.
I drove over an hour on two different occasions to purchase a new vehicle from Glendale Nissan. I initially came across their dealership through an online search and found they had the best prices, which their website boasts the lowest prices around so I figured it was worth the drive to get thousands in savings. My first trip was to determine what model of vehicle I wanted. I test drove a brand new Nissan Altima and a Nissan Sentra. I determined I wanted to go with the Sentra at the end of the first visit. I sat down with the salesman Ronaldo and asked what the additional costs were. He asked where I lived and then shared tax rate would be 7% and then to estimate about $1,000 for additional documentation, registration, plates, etc. He said that there was a $750 bonus cash that could be applied on top of the sale price and that there were other rebates available including military and for recent grads. I went home and discussed with my partner. We decided on the Sentra SV model #550127 priced at $17,436. We drove back 3 days later prepared with car insurance and our down payment. Ronaldo was busy when we arrived so his partner pulled up the car for us and proceeded to help us. I gave my partner and daughter a brief drive around the parking lot and went in to finalize the transaction. When I sat down he handed me a piece a paper that listed various Nissan rebates and asked me to circle yes or no. I did, then he walked away and came back with a piece of paper with one number that was $23K+. I was very confused and asked for the breakdown of the numbers because even with the price plus tax and additional title and license fees is shouldn't have been over $20K. The salesman walked away again and came back with the rebate paper that I indicated No on each of the 6 rebates. He took the starting Sale Price listed online of $17,436 and added on costs since I did not qualify for those rebates. They did not say up front that the Sale Price listed included rebates. The Salesman said it is listed in the fine print on the website. The fine print posted does not state that the Sale Price includes rebates. The dealership wasted 5 hours of my time driving their and dealing with them for their lack of honesty from the beginning. I am shocked that others had such a good dealing with them. My only thought is because their dealings did not include rebates and false advertisement. To also note, one of the rebates they listed was a $1000 credit for a Nissan trade-in, yet my trade-in range provided from the Nissan website was $4,075-$5,270. So not only are they deceiving in their pricing but also want to take advantage of you with...
Read moreIf I could give ZERO stars to Glendale Nissan in Glendale Heights, I would!!!! My daughter and I went to Glendale Nissan because she wanted to purchase a new car. When we arrived, the salesman Rolando met us outside and told us where to look for the Nissan Rogues and went back inside the building. We then went to let him know she found a car she wanted to look at, he then gave us the keys for a quick test drive. (The car had no protection on the floor and bird poop running down the window). After our short drive around the parking lot, we went back into the office to talk numbers with the "finance" guy Vito, who came in with the price, but when we inquired about their 0% financing, he stated that 0% financing was not available, even though it was clearly stated on their website. He stated they offered 3.9% and when I said that 3.9 was too high, he said "You think 3.9 is high? Go to your bank and see what you'll pay, financing can go to 5.9%!" I turned to my daughter and asked if she wanted to check out Mitsubishi because they have 0%, the guy Vito said "You want Mitsubishi, go to Mitsubishi, good luck!" SERIOUSLY? He seemed like he didn't want or need to make a sale even though Rolando claimed the dealership was willing to meet the customers needs and work out some sort of offer. We were made to feel insignificant and chose to walk out the door. We decided drive to BILL KAY NISSAN on Ogden where we had the best experience with Matt K. our salesman. Matt went over every option for financing depending on down payment, including 0% financing! Within a matter of minutes, my daughter was purchasing her new car. Before she drove it off the lot, Matt explained everything the car had to off and everything Nissan had to offer. We will definitely be recommendIng BILL KAY NISSAN and highly recommend that if you are planning to buy a Nissan PLEASE do yourself a favor and go to BILL KAY NISSAN on Ogden in Downers Grove and ask for Matt, you will be so glad...
