Been going to glendo annually, twice a year. First year was great! These last few years have a bit disappointing. We camp in Sandy Beach, the last 4 stays we have found tons of trash at our campsite, baby diapers, cigarette butts and food droppings throughout the campsite and in the fire pit. I understand you can't control the degenerates of the world, who lack respect for the privilege to enjoy God's country. But there must be a way to have a site inspection after checkout and charge fines/fees for not picking up after yourself. Other than that, Glendo is an amazing place to camp. Weather can be temperamental and unpredictable. High winds can be present and really make your stay challenging, so prepare for that. Extra tie downs would be a smart choice. The lake itself is great. Even on the busiest of days, you would never know because of the amount of surface area for boats to travel. Lots of ants if you are staying in Sandy Beach, and this is mainly because of the lack of respect from other campers leaving food on the ground. I have found that bug spray on the ground helps keeps the ants away. Hope this helps prepare...
Read moreI love glendo and have some great memories. Eve. When the lake was down to 49%, it's still huge. I am sad they don't do dispersed camping without reservations any longer. I'm sure there are issues both ways but we rented 5 slots for 5 campers and were so far away. Probably could have fit 20 tents ⛺ in-between us all which is a lot of missed opportunity for people to enjoy. Plus the campsite reservation system makes it seem you'll be right on the water, couldn't even see the water until we drove to the area. We love to camp on the water and leave the boat on overnight, cant fo that here any longer. may not be back...

Keep in mind for camping, later in the year, the water drops down and you'll have to walk further to get to the water. There is a lot of rocky ground exposed at that time, so wear flip flops/water shoes to go into the water.
The last few years there's basically a permanent fire ban, but they let you have propane fire pits. They DO enforce this, and have a Ranger drive around checking.
The nearest Walmart is about 30 minutes away, so plan accordingly because the general store and gas station don't have anything...
