The Besh-Ba-Gowah Museum in Globe is a great little adventure for a sunny day and a reasonably priced way to step back in time. The museum provides a fascinating glimpse into the Salado culture, which thrived between 1225 and 1400 CE. The experience doesn’t take long but is packed with insight. Visitors start with a short video explaining the site’s history, then explore a collection of artifacts, pottery, and woven items before heading outside. The partially reconstructed ruins offer a unique perspective, with a walkable trail marked by informative signs that bring the past to life. And the botanical garden showcases native plants used by the Salado, adding another layer to the experience. Handicap accessible and pet-friendly, it’s a great stop for history lovers looking for an easy yet engaging outing. The site delivers an educational look at Arizona’s rich archaeological heritage. Adults are $5.00, Seniors (65+) $4.00, and Children (12 and under) are free. Hours:...
Read moreI had a great experience here and this is one of the best Native American archeological sites in the Maricopa/Gila county area. What's really neat is with this site is firstly everything is well preserved and while other museums just show remains of the floor, here you can still see some of the structure walls and they still have a 2 story one standing that you can walk into. They still have some of the artifacts in there and you can look through the gated windows to see them. Super cool. The signs are very simple and easy to read which I love. The outside walk takes about ~30-45 minutes (give or take) depending on how fast you explore or if you like myself circle back a second lap to make sure you saw all the ruins. There's also small museum inside- very organized artifcact collection and the person working inside is knowledgeable. They also play a very helpful educational 12 minute video in the museum as...

My visit to the Besh-ba-Gowah Archaeological Site was absolutely incredible! Even though parts of the site were under renovation, the preserved ruins and the amazing museum made the trip well worth it. Walking through the ancient Pueblo structures was like stepping back in time—you can really feel the history in the air.
The museum inside is a true gem, filled with fascinating artifacts that tell the story of the people who once lived here. I was completely captivated by the pottery, tools, and other relics on display.
One important tip: the site closes at 4:30 PM, so plan accordingly! We only had 30 minutes to explore, but I could have easily spent an hour or more soaking in all the history.
Highly recommend this hidden treasure to anyone interested in archaeology or Native American history. Don’t miss it if you're...
