To be clear, I am reviewing Dixon Springs State Park cabin rentals. Specifically, we rented cabin number seven. the cabin is not primitive in any way, it is modern with beautiful bathroom, 2 bedrooms, kitchenette, electric, water, and it is beautifully decorated. Very clean. You need to bring towels, washcloths, your own bedding. There is a microwave, toaster oven, regular toaster, small mini fridge, coffee maker, and the kitchen sink even has an extra hot water spigot for instant coffee and oatmeal. It is clearly labeled that the water coming out is super hot. I'll admit it was difficult finding the cabins themselves. The front park office was closed with a note saying someone would return soon. I drove around the park until I found someone, his name was Eric and he was fantastically helpful and got me checked in right away. If you need anything in the state park, find Eric and he will make it happen. Just an outstanding and professional guy! In fact, every single person in the park on staff was friendly and helpful in the best ways. Also I noticed in other reviews in the past people have complained about the pool and pool area, but when I was here it was very clean and inviting and the people working there were very nice. I have absolutely no idea about tent or trailer camping, that is not an area I stayed in, only cabin 7. In this cabin each bedroom had a full-size bed and in the living area was a sofa that pulled out into a sofa bed. There is a television in the main living area, and each bedroom also has its own separate television. For the kitchen area there are no dishes or utensils or towels, you must bring your own. There was a bathroom facility near the cabins and I found it clean enough. It wasn't full of bugs as other people have reviewed the bathrooms and other places in the park. The trails and scenery in this park are...
Read moreI've been going to Dixon Springs since I was very young and remember camping there when I was in Boy Scouts. It's a great place to hike, picnic, birdwatch, and photograph wildflowers. The sandstone formations are fascinating and the trails are well maintained. The staff does a wonderful job considering how bad the state budget is. For a relatively small park it has quite a variety of things to see and do, and I have never seen it to be very crowded, so you can get away and enjoy nature by yourself. If you enjoy getting outdoors and just looking at nature I think you will enjoy Dixon Springs a great deal. Also note, there are bathroom facilities in several places in the park, although just pit toilet types, and some are just simple outhouse types. But, they get the job done and it's good that they are available. There is a swimming pool at the park also, but I can't comment on it because I have...
Read moreI give the park five stars for cleanliness and staff friendliness. The pool is a hidden gem bot known to many even locals. I've gone there for a decade and have raised my kids into excellent swimmers in this facility. The staff are top notch to ANY location or business I've ever been to. They are very friendly and take care of you and your family. Lisa once saved me in a medical emergency and her son was there in direct support as a suffered extreme heat exhaustion and their fast action kept me from spiraling even further down. They've recognized all my children and even showed concern when a local child with the same name as my son could not be found and they expressed concern when we arrived at the pool. I've never felt more at home and surrounded by family oriented people than the staff there. I highly recommend a visit from anybody looking for a relaxing place to let your kids swim and enjoy the...
