Silver Lake Sand Dunes — Attraction in Golden Township

Really fun place that you can experience the beauty of Lake Michigan and it’s mystical dunes. Sand Dunes with fun for everyone. Whether you relax and enjoy the day at the beach; 4 wheel the dunes; watch dune drag racing or climb the dunes there is fun for everyone of all ages. The dunes are very protected by MI DNR traveling throughout the dunes to patrol and enforce rules. Dunes are clearly marked with where to go and not go. Clean and newer vault restrooms are available out in the park. Great place to go off road, relax, unwind and have fun. 4X4 is highly recommended. There are local rental places for renting dune cars or you can lower your air in a 4x4 and travel just to the beach. Bring air to fill your tires once you leave. The dunes get really busy on weekend. Silver Lake Sand Dunes is hands down one of the coolest places I’ve ever been! The views are absolutely insane — endless rolling dunes right next to Lake Michigan make for a landscape that looks straight out of a postcard. Whether you’re driving a side-by-side, Jeep, or just hanging out by the water, there’s something for everyone here. We had a blast ripping through the sand, watching the sunset over the lake, and just soaking in the whole vibe. It’s super well-managed, the rules are clear, and the community of off-roaders is awesome and respectful. It is breathtaking here. So beautiful. Way too much fun. You will need to air down and get into 4L, they provide free air stations on the way out, the line seems long but it goes by fast. Also you will need a 10foot pole attached to the front bumper. They sell them there. I suggest getting the year pass, you will want to come back and play in the sand, trust me. I don't suggest coming here on a busy weekend. The non Jeep people have zero discipline. Almost got hit by a couple of ATV's, why? Because they don't care, unlike us, these Jeeps are our daily drivers. Not rentals. SO just be aware and check alot before you go fast up a hill. The beach is stunning and the water is beautiful.
