If you’re looking for something to do for a couple hours, here is the place. The entrance is not easy to find. GPS (Google map or Apple map) will not take you to the entrance. It’ll tell you you’ve arrived but you’re still in the middle of the road. Just keep driving up. You’ll start seeing views of rocks. The entrance is on the left but the sign is not curbside. If you reach the gun club, you go too far and must turn around. When you drive down, just keep looking on the right (not far from the gun club) and it’ll see the sign. The sign is easier to spot when driving down than driving up. Parking is off street and there are a couple areas with large space that could park a few cars. Just park in those areas and walk to the entrance. With a short hike (only minutes), you’ll reach the rock area like a vista point with beautiful view of Santa Barbara and the Pacific Ocean. You can climb around the rocks but be careful because it can be slippery with gravels. Wear sport shoes or Keen-like shoes for easy climbing. Also bring a light jacket or a windbreaker because it’s windy. Wear a hat, put on sun screen, bring water & snacks and...

I was in a rented Camaro Convertible and the kind valet at the hotel told me when I asked for a nice hike for my birthday to "drive until I thought I was lost, and then keep going some more". That is pretty accurate.
This hike is one of those you can blink and miss it if you don't have it in your GPS but it'll bring you to the spot. Parking can be tight but you'll probably be able to find a spot on the side of the road.
It's beautiful when you come into the open rock clearing with a view of the coast and the city of Santa Barbara far below. You can easily boulder and hike around for a while and enjoy the views. It's so much fun!
I have to say, if I didn't follow another couple to the Lizard's Mouth rock, I'd have never found it. It's not a clearly marked trail. But it's super cool when you do find it off to the far right of the rock clearing when you come out to...
Read moreOne of my favorite places to wander in sb!!! It's so much fun to go hiking along the path mixed with jumping across boulders. Absolutely stunning sunset every time even if there's fog because you're well above it. Highly recommend visiting if in the area, it's definitely an easy passage through, no real 'hike' required and you don't have to rock jump, there are many pathways!!!! Would advise wearing the grippiest shoes you can find since it can be slick if you are going the rock jumping route. Don't bring a dog unless they're capable of squeezing through passageways and climbing the rocks. Also can get here from la cumbre peak which is the highest peak in town!! Takes a little bit to get here either way from sb but well worth...
