Very clean, quiet peaceful place to park your camper. They have a large area so plenty of spots to choose from. There's a huge pond you can take your dogs on walks & never run out of places to explore. It's beautiful & quiet here. It's hard to usually find a place that checks off multiple items on the list of things you'd like to have at one place! We've stayed in many different RV parks in many different places & this is honestly my 2nd favorite one I have stayed at with the 1st one being a cabin we stayed in & not an RV so. Only thing I didn't care for was after we were there for almost an entire year in the same spot the whole time, they informed us we would have to move our camper to another section up front for one week when they had the livestock show. That wasn't that big of a problem as was just how many times we were informed by the office. The first time they spoke to my husband they told him we had to have our camper moved by the 11th of Feb. Ok cool. Well 3 days before the 11th they called to tell him we were gonna have to move our camper on the 11th, my husband agreed no problem & then on the 10th they called 3 times & we already knew what they wanted so we didn't answer so then they had a man ride to our camper to tape a handwritten note on the door that said "Camper needs to be moved by Feb 11 or it will be towed & we will be charged for the towing expenses. I found that ridiculous that we were being treated like we were NEVER leaving & our rent was paid up until the 11th so had we left a week early when they "wanted" us too we certainly would not have been refunded for those days we left before our paid day as they say NO REFUNDS! So beautiful place but they need to learn to be a little less aggressive instead of making ppl feel like they did something wrong by leaving on the day they...
Read moreSTAY CLEAR!!!! My husband is currently in Gonzales on a job and we are staying at Lamar Dixon. About two weeks ago I had a note placed on my truck about vehicle parking. I had parked next to my camper since the lot was empty and was giving my neighbor space considering we are packed in like sardines. The note told me that I was not allowed to take up an empty lot space and they didn't have the room for four and five vehicles to be parked next to the camper, and to move my vehicle to the end of the lot.(Keep in mind I have ONE vehicle and pay $500 a month for water and electric) When I called Flo I ask to be moved. That has yet to happen. The management is HORRIBLE. They are always rude and not customer friendly. The facilities look as though they have not seen a cleaning since the place was built. You pay $500 a month for water and electric. No cable and Crappy service. Plus I hope you like the party atmosphere because that is what you will get here. It never fails there is always a HUGE group of people drinking and very loud up near the front office. If you have a child, like I do, you don't want to exposed to that sort of unacceptable behavior. I would suggest to save your money and a headache and find some where else to park your camper for any extended amount of time....
Read moreEverything I expected. My wife, kids, and I packed up and traveled the hour and a half to see the Christmas light show. This would be the second time seeing the lights. The second time was just as good as the first. We will make the trip every time the have it. All we had to do was drive around with the radio on a certain channel and watch the light show driving at idle speed. No concessions were available but none were needed because you were constantly moving in your vehicle for at least 30 minutes enjoying the lights. The kids loved it, the wife loved it, and so far everyone that has come along with us also like the light show. I would not mind traveling to other states and check out their display to compare. Whatever day I choose to go we try to make it there about 30 minutes before they open. So far that seems to be a good time because we are normally first in line and by the time they open and let us in there is a line so long the end of it is nowhere in sight. Not sure of any of the events they have at the lamar-dixon expo gear around but I am sure whatever they have there is pretty nice because it is...
