This rest area right at the eastbound Kansas border is easily one of the best I've stopped at during my travels. The bathrooms were impressively clean—well-stocked, bright, and clearly well-maintained, which is always appreciated on a long road trip.
One of the biggest highlights for me was the RV dump station. It was easy to access, clearly marked, and worked perfectly, which helped out tremendously. As someone living the van life, having a clean, reliable dump station available without any hassle is a huge win.
The real hidden gem, though, is the camping loop tucked away in the back. It's quiet, spacious, and ideal for van lifers or folks in RVs looking for a peaceful overnight stop. There's a nice mix of shade and open space, and it's far enough from the highway to be relaxing without being inconvenient.
Overall, this rest area is more than just a quick pit stop—it’s a genuinely useful and comfortable place to regroup, recharge, and get back on the road. Highly recommend it if you're crossing...

When I arrived, the restroom had toilet paper on the floor by the trash can, and the trash needed to be taken out. I only noticed one stall that was disgusting, but the rest were fine. Being that others I've encountered were far worse I feel like they need the credit where it's due. Public restrooms can only be as clean as the guests leave it. A maintenance/ janitorial employee can't clean after every single person. Therefore, I believe they do a great job keeping...

And at that time, about 13 years ago, had no smartphone or even GPS. Therefore, most all of us drivers really needed and greatly appreciated all the directions from very kindhearted locals, especially Kansas residents. What an awesome warm-hearted State, no wonder it's in heartland of the US.
Afterwards, continued driving eastbound, to truly welcoming motel, that had an awesome friendly diner next door.
Only wish I could remember the name of the diner, with an incredible gathering of dear...
