My family and I had a pretty good time, but I don't think it's on our list of places to go back. They are way to strict with their noise ordinance. It's hard to feel comfortable there, especially when there are golf carts driving around 24/7. It's just anxiety provoking.

They did allow dogs though, which is a huge plus and the main reason we picked this place out. Although our campsite neighbors also had a dog and when their dog ran over without a leash we weren't upset at all, it happens, but they made some unpleasant comments because my dog barked a couple times around 9:00 pm.

The canoe and kayak rentals are pricey. We went to Button Bay State Park a couple years ago and their prices were much more reasonable. There is a beach, but I couldn't tell about it because no dogs are allowed there, but the boat access area and where the kayaks are was small but very pretty. Dogs are allowed there.

The camps sites are to close together for our comfort and the majority of them we saw were very small and consisted more of the rock driveway then grass. My sister, her boyfriend and my niece were fortunate enough to have brought air mattresses, but my fiancé and I didn't and it was uncomfortable sleeping on rocks, and my sister even gave us the less rockier area.

This State Park seems to attract certain type of people, which is why I brought up the situation with our neighbors. None us of had a friendly or welcoming feeling being there, but we still had fun amongst ourselves.

I posted a couple pictures of our campsite and you can see what I tried explaining about the...

This is not an indictment of park staff who are polite and do a great job given what they have to deal with, but an indictment of the entire VT state park admin as these things are common to all of the state parks. We arrived to sticker shock as an out of state camper. I lived in VT for 10 years (moved 2021) and it was never more than $2/night extra to camp as a non resident ($22 basic campsite). Now it is DOUBLE the resident fee. Nice thing to do to your neighbors at a time when Canadiens aren't visiting the US, eh? Additionally they charge $9!! for an armful of wood and $5/bag of ice! If the state were sincerely interested in stopping the spread of invasive insects they would keep wood prices to a minimum. I guarantee many people will transport wood once they discover the greed of VT. This state has lost it's mind. Additionally, for my $114 for a 3 night stay on a tent site, I got to listen to generators 4hrs a day--surrounded on all sides by loud engines running 8-10am and again 4-6pm. Generators should not be allowed. The state should install battery charging stations as an alternative, where patrons can plug their batteries in and preserve the serenity of the park. If you can't camp without running a generator GO PAY FOR ELECTRIC AT A PRIVATE CAMPGROUND because NO ONE abandons the sounds of the city to listen to MORE NOISE. I used to love camping at VT state parks but I will NEVER return and...

We last camped here in 2010 with our three little children. Fifteen years later, we are back tent camping again with 2 of our 3 children along with a boat to see Lake Champlain. Site was excellent, very clean and the bathroom and showers were amazingly clean. Just like they were 15 years ago. There is no power or water hook ups for campers and RVs but in the morning some ran small generators to repower their batteries while others used solar panels. Very quiet camp ground. They have a boat launch on site with a dock, but the water level were way to low to back or 23' boat in. The launch pavement did not go into the water but stopped short and the rest was large rocks. Spoke to a guy who tried dropping a 24' pontoon boat and he said the rocks damaged his trailer tail lights. It is also a very steep launch. Best ace to launch any boat over 20feet is Apple Marine at the southern tip of South Hero. Other wise, we had a excellent time here. The smoke from the Canada wild fires was pretty thick some days where we could not see across the lake at all. We would definitely camp here again. If your towing a camper with long bed pick up and a camper over 25feet, turns into some of the sites are very tight. Just a heads up. There is no "Day Usage" at this park. It's for...
